Peze Kafe
Our latest recording is an exciting song from Haiti: "Peze Kafé." We were thrilled to collaborate with dancer and choreographer, Laura Beaubrun. Laura was born and raised in Haiti, to a family of artists - her parents being the creators of the legendary musical group Boukman Eksperyans. She says that in Haiti, "artistic expression is part of everyday life used as a form of expression in order to face the challenges that life presents. It is through dance, music, painting, drawing and writing that we share what needs to be expressed." Peze Kafé is sung in Hatian Creole, and tells the story of a young boy who is sent to the market to sell coffee, but when he loses the coffee he begins to worry about getting in trouble with his mother. This choral arrangement by Sten Källman begins with vocal percussion highlighting the exciting rhythms of Haitian music. We hope you enjoy!
