We watched The U.S. Open LPGA tournament today.
Hoping that one of our Korean girls conquer the whole thing as usual,
But things didn't go as well and happy as we thought. In the final round today,
the Korean girls got so far behind, and there seemed no hope for their winning.
Lexi Thompson was leading the final with 5 points ahead of everyone.
It looked like she was going to win easily by trashing everyone else. We started to lose interest
in the game, but we left the game to play on our TV screen. Actually, I walked out and did yard work
for about an hour. On returning to the family room TV, an interesting thing had happened.
The dominant Lexi Thompson of the U.S had lost her 5 point-lead while Hataoka of Japan was
within one point behind Lexi and, also, Yuka Saso of Phillippine was right behind.
The pressure of being the leader might have been too much for Lexi Thompson.
She made critical putting too short and committing two bogies while Hataoka and Saso kept their composure.
At the 18th hole, Lexi of America lost her composure and dropped out as the third finisher.
Hataoka of Japan and Saso of Phillippine tied at -4 for the play-off for the championship.
After the U.S player got eliminated, the final honor of being the U.S. Open championship came to two Asian girls.
This was exactly what we were hoping to happen.
The irony of Asians being attacked illegally in America's streets had turned into a surprising and unexpected
turn-over where an American girl got eliminated by two Asian girls.
Trump and all those white supremacists would have cried if they were watching the game.
The game was a perfectly legal event in front of all the TV watchers.
What sweet revenge was that?
Nasa Hataoka and Yuka Saso proudly declared their Asian supremacy in the legitimate fair play.
Did it say something to us?
Who will win if only the game was played fairly? The two Asian girls showed the answer!
For the rest of the play-off, I didn't really care who won.
I was so glad that Saso of Phillippine won by beating Hataoka of Japan.
The Koreans had won so many times and they didn't have to win again today.
Let a Philippino have the honor. Let her have the impossible dream come true.
Because it must have been a tremendous blessing and honor for the people of Phillippine.
As Saso was giving the interview at the end, she was full of tears. We understood.
The eyes of an old Korean immigrant in front of the TV screen got warm and wet too.
He thought that today God was fair.
PS: Jin-Young Ko and In-Bee Park tried very hard but they couldn't come to the top.
However, both of them did well enough to keep their Rolex Ranking intact on Today's game.

I appreciate your comment, Doc. Thank you.
Rather than a press report, this was a "personal" report or an essay.
As I was in a hurry to get the webpage on the website, it's not as complete as I like to have.
I may give some more fine-tuning on this webpage to make it better.

After watching 6th hole the last and second last group playing,
my wife and I went to the concession stand and stood on the
long line. There were a young lady from Poland and a couple
from Turlock 20 miles south to Modesto before us and we chatted
about the leaderboard. We all agreed that Lexi would win, but we
never know. We had the most delicious hotdog in two years
and went to the 11th hole where Lexi missed a short bogey putt
and ended up having double bogey. It was the hole that caused
momentum change for Lexi.
The fairways were narrow and the roughs were so thick and tough that
most of the players had to lay out if the ball landed on it. But there are a few
could play out of rough to the green. Both Lexi and Saso have enough strength
that they played the ball out of rough. But somehow Lexi was very defensive on her
play after the 1st hole. She tried to let the ball run up to the green so many
times, being afraid of the ball off the green if she attacked the pin.
Saso was consistently played aggressively for 4 days including Sunday. Her ability
to play the ball in the rough to the green made her dominate the field. Her aggressive
play hurt her at the beginning of the final round, but she did not give up. Her ability
to play out of rough helped her winning the playoff as well.
Lee6 did not have the swing speed that she could play out of the rough.
If her driver ended up in the rough, par was in doubt. She simply did
not have the shots to win it.
I felt so sorry for Lexi. I was thinking Greg Norman lost to Nick Faldo in
Masters blowing large lead on Sunday. Since then, Norman could not recover from
the defeat.

Congratulation to the winner, Yuka Saso(19) of the Philippines.
Here comes another rising star in future LPGA. She won the
prestigious US Open at the young age of 19 like Inbee Park in 2008.
It was great to see her overcome initial mishaps(2 double bogeys
at 2nd and 3rd) to be the winner. Perseverance is a virtue!
I felt sorry for Lexi Thompson. She could not hold the lead of 5 strokes
ahead over the rest of the field leaving 8 holes to be played. The trouble
was started at the 11th hole with double bogeys due to the errant chip shot from
the green-side rough. It was a downfall from that point on and The bogey at
relatively easy 17th hole was the final blow to her. I wish Lexi would put
her chin up because once again she has proved she is one of the dominant players
in LPGA. Who knows! Maybe the next time would be the charm!
Korean players had won 7 out of the last 10 US Opens and this is one of
a rare off-year for them. Thanks for our WM for this presentation! KJ
PS, I was looking for Dr 온 and one of my niece and her husband, who are members in that club
all over among spectators without prevail. KJ

It was very nice and exciting for us to be in a crowd watching young
ladies competing in the beautiful but challenging golf course after more
than a year of our absence. But it was not funny at all that everything I did or saw the first time
after COVID19 made me feel like I did it just yesterday. I wonder why someone
said that Christmas is coming every 3 days when you get old.
Because tickets were sold only one-fifth of capacity, it was very easy to navigate
golf course and watch it very closely to the players. Many Indians were visible
because of the new phenom Ganne, the 17-year-old Indian American. Chinese Americans
came to see Feng. Of course, Koreans were there hoping for another US open for
Korean players. Daly City where the club is has a large Philippino community. They
were rooting for Saso. Crowds were dominated by Asians in the venue held
in the city where it is populated mostly by Asians and the majority of dominant players were
Asians. Lexi was a lone American girl playing with Saso and Ganne. Did Lexi felt
pressure because of the atmosphere LPAG created? Nobody knows but
evidently she lost. In the end, Saso won. And, there, her dream came true.

A great presentation with a moving commentary, WM.
Last time I watched TV Lexi led by 4 and was at -7.
My wife and I had planned golfing with our daughter and son,
which is the first time in years so that I couldn't care much
for Lexi leading. Four of us had a great day for a time together.
But appreciate your reporting much.
Thank you!
