This is another amazing story of K-pop,

the genuine treasured pride of Koreans, whose American fans

may have something to do with the failure of Donald Trump's rally

at Tulsa, Oklahoma last Saturday.

Learning something about the worldwide fan base of K-pop by reading this article 

is an eye-opening experience for me, and I can't help feeling 격세지감 and how little 

we old folks know about our young Korean generation and their enormous potential 

on the world stage.

They could not find any excuse for the stadium's empty seats.

The people who would have gone to the Republican Rally are not the same people

who would have gone to the K-pop concert.

One thing for sure is that if K-pop played in Tulsa stadium,

there might have not been any empty seats.

Who would have gone to the "show of the lies and deceit" of Donald Trump?

K팝 팬덤 문화를 연구하는 세다바우 세이지 인디애나 대학교수는 "트럼프 대통령의 털사 유세를

방해한 건 외국인 K팝 팬이 아닌 미국인 K팝 팬들"이라며 "이들은 온라인 플랫폼을 다루는데

능숙한, 젊고 사회적이고 진보적인 집단"이라고 분석했다.   
 

이런 정치적 행동이 미국식 K팝 팬덤의 하위문화로 자리 잡은 것으로 보인다는 분석도 나왔다.

K팝 메시지에 정치적인 내용은 없지만, BTS의 '자신을 사랑하라(Love yourself)'는 메시지가 주로

여성으로 구성된 팬들의 세계관에 영향을 주면서, 삶의 모든 측면에서 이들의 표현력이 강해졌다는

해석이다. K팝을 좋아하게 되면서 자연스럽게 유색인종 차별에도 거부감을 갖게 됐다는 분석도 있다.   
   
이런 생각을 공유한 팬들에게 트럼프 대통령의 지지자들보다 티켓을 빨리 구입해 매진시키는 건

일도 아니었다는 것이 NYT의 분석이다.

순식간에 콘서트 티켓을 매진시키는 이들의 '티케팅' 능력은 정평이 나 있다.
