GOP is the Lincoln's party. Abraham Lincoln held the country together
on the brink of permanent division. The same party is promoting
the divide. The red states that are predominantly Christian whites
who do not accept the result of legitimate election. They rationalize their
claims by following Trump's lie that the election was rigged. But the truth
is because their favorite candidate did not win. These people are poor,
undereducated, discontented and angry. They think they deserve to being
richer than immigrants and minorities. But they are not.
They became violent. Terrors from outside seems to be under control but
those from inside are growing because of angry poor whites. And they
vote for the ones who lie to them. That's why American Democracy is
in crisis.
If Biden continues to fumble, people who voted for Democrats may defect
to GOP in 2022 and both House and Senate will be under GOP's grip.

(CNN)George Washington's nightmare is coming true. October 21, 2021
Two disparate events this week -- Steve Bannon's willingness to risk criminal contempt of Congress to protect a twice-impeached former President and the GOP's latest move in the Senate blocking efforts to guarantee the rights of all citizens to vote -- are validating the first President's fear that American democracy would founder on the rocks of partisan extremism.
While the American people are weary of the endless partisan fights bequeathed by Donald Trump's presidency, they are caught in a seminal moment that will decide how America is governed now and for generations to come.
House votes on whether to hold Steve Bannon in criminal contempt: LIVE UPDATES
The Bannon and voting rights cases, which are on a fast boil, underscore how the threat to the US checks and balance system, epitomized by Trump's election lies and defiance of accountability, is getting worse with every month. And these are not just isolated challenges to the role of Congress and the integrity of the electoral system, but part of a broad and coordinated set of actions that reveal how one of America's great parties -- the GOP -- is putting the amassing of power and the need to protect and impress a leader with autocratic ambitions above the basic democratic fundamentals. This is exactly what Washington warned against in his 1796 farewell address and threatens to cause the "ruins of public liberty" in the political system that he so feared.

Plato predicted how democracy turns into autocracy.
Future autocrats in democratic country lie to the public.
The lies are exactly what people want to hear. Then
they get popular support and get into power with democratic
process. Once they grab the power, autocratic ruling begins.
That is what Steve Bannon and Trump plotted. Be aware
there are many of autocrats in disguise just like them in GOP!
This is precisely what many of us are worried about.
This Professor got it right and is to the point.
can't agree with him more with every word he is saying.
Following is the description of the current Republican Party by this Professor.
"I think ideologically it has evolved into something fairly similar to European far-right parties. It's primarily an ethnic-nationalist nativist party. It is essentially preserving the identity of a white Christian America, and that is fairly similar to what we describe as far-right parties in Europe. The thing about far-right parties in Europe is they win 12, 15, 17, 18 percent of the vote and they're at the margins of politics. At best, they're a junior partner in a coalition government, but mostly they're in opposition. So they're kind of at the margins throwing rocks at the boat of the system, but they're not in power. There's no country, no established democracy in the world, with the exception of India, in which one major party is an extremist ethnic-nationalist party."
