Accolades in the City by the Bay

We are pleased to share the news that our 2015 Oro Bianco and our 2014 Granato  took home silver medals in the San Francisco Chronicle's 2017 wine competition!  The Chronicle claims to be the largest American wine competition with over 6300 wines entered from 28 different States.  After the results are announced, a public tasting is held in San Francisco with the proceeds going towards various non-profit organizations in the wine industry.  This is all new for us! We've never been involved in events like this because most competitions require 6 bottles per entry and we didn't want to give up the 6 bottles.  So what does this new found notoriety mean for the good people at Due Ragazze?  Honestly, we are not sure but it feels good to get a nice pat on head from people in the industry.

Too Much of a Good Thing!

After multiple years of not enough water, Mother Nature is doing a terrific job of bringing plenty of rain to California this year.  As the photo to the right shows, stormy weather can bring its share of complications to a vineyard. While the deer fencing needs to be repaired, minimal damage was done to the vines .  Although we have lost a potential  home for our misplaced owl box, the absence of this giant oak tree has us thinking, is there now room to plant more grapes? After the rock solid 2016 vintage, its easy to get excited about adding more vines to the property.
