The president has created deep divisions among Korean-Americans: Some admire his foreign policy while others are angered by his talk on immigration.

Trump’s fortune is changing rapidly for the good, because of what is happening
in Korea and the economy. Even the idea of erecting fence on the Mexican
border started to make sense. Refuges from all over the world come to South
America and travel all the way to the Mexican-American border. They are
collectively waiting to cross the border. The numbers are increasing.
Sooner or later it may resemble European refugee situation.
He just withdrew Iranian-US nuclear deal. That means Iranian sanction will be reapplied.
Iranian economy had been so bad that people were coming out to street and shouting
against the Islamic regime. The sanction was relieved as Iranians gave up the nuclear
program. The economy has been getting better. If the sanction begins again, I am not sure
what will happen in Iran.
It is certain that Iranian nuclear negotiation will start again after Trump-Kim meeting.

Thank you for your comment, Dr. Ohn.
Your vision and your analysis always give us an additional light
to the complicated, murky future ahead of us in this world.
I appreciate that.
I said in this space sometime ago I pray that Good Lord chose Trump and
other leaders on behalf of peace in Korea out of His love for Korean people.
I can only try to appreciate the mysteries of His works.
To me it is just amazing to watch how much political freedom every Korean in South Korea is enjoying
speaking out what's in their hearts, which in itself is a dream-come-true accomplishment as a nation.
To me what matters to all Koreans is not which party, conservative, liberal, ultra conservative, ultra liberal,
right, left, ultra right or left, you belong to, but to develop the maturity and capacity to tolerate each other
and one another instead of trying to xxxxxxxxxxx one another.
Americans are tolerating Donald in spite of all his flaws. It is amazing to appreciate the bottomless tolerance of
politicians here and the American people in general instead of creating another civil war.
With the help of Trump and others liberating NK as a free country may well be in the making in the foreseeable future.
Most of us agree Hilary could not possibly have done what Donald has been doing simply because
she does not have the so called lizard wisdom as much, I believe.

I totally agree with you 선배님.
Watching what has been happening last couple of years in Korea and in the world as well,
some mysterious power is working behind, whether it is God or super God------
As far as political matters, all of us, our generation, were brain washed from stupid education,
largely influenced by cold war era- tragedies and our ideas tend to be fixed ,especially in the past, with little tolerance to other ideas.
This time., we, Koreans may have an unusual chance in which Korea, especially south, can play a driver-seat role in creating new order for world peace and prosperity. Hopefully they play it right and succeed.

Thank you for your comment, Dr. Choh.
Koreans in South Korea are all highly educated people just like you and me, and
the younger generations are, I believe, a lot more intelligent and confident than
the older generations and have broader world views as well, I believe.
I have had nothing but all the confidence in them over the years in regard to the future
of Korea as I do with Korean LPGA players as a small example.
What we old generation, grandpas and grandmas, should be doing is to
count our blessings and encourage them, support their decisions such as electing their leaders,
and pray for them instead of minding their business and scolding their decisions
and disagreeing with them every which way, which, as you said, is a bad old habit coming down
thousands of years as part of DNA perhaps since the days of Confucius.

(중앙일보: 남북분단 70년....)
Freedom and equality bring out the best of people. Transparency of the government
enables the people make a right decision on electing their leader. There has been
huge gap between US and South Korea on both. In last 20 years, SK gotten
closer to U.S.. The younger generation is much more accustomed to “free thinking
without ideological prejudice” than the old one. I am very sorry to say this, but
unfortunately the old generation is “misinformed generation” because of colonial
Japanese occupation and Cold War era. They are still in that frame even though both
are long gone. The future of Korea belongs to the young generation and their children.
The old, lets pray for them!

In the last election I voted for Donald Trump bracing all the derogatory remarks from my own friends.
I lived in the midwest, i.e. Ohio, for 40 years and every day I had contacts with ordinary middle class folks such as nurses, thechnicians,
and most of physicians and saw how they were extremely unhappy of Obama administration.
Most of working class mid-income midwest white voters were for Donald Trump and I sympathize with them.
Because of that f*****g Donald Trump we have some kind of chance of solving South-North Korean problem.
I sincerely hope this is the right opportunity.
Because SK younger generation has total freedom, they could choose an extremely left leaning guy as their president.
Whatever comes out of that result is all their responsibility.
As an American whose roots are in Korea I really wish the best result.
Dr.Ohn, I can not agree with you to certain points.
I do not believe we were totally "mis-informed" generation.
Maybe larger part was mis-information to rule the contury with iron grip, but it was necessary at that time.
NK was better off in the 60's &70's than SK.
I am not trying to beuatify Park Chung Hee but you have to recognize his greatest achievement which was economical success.
Real personal freedom and free speech and free press could be achieved only after freedom from poverty.
Koreans made that.
And they have every right to choose whoever leader they want, but not the one who is supporting and being subjugated to
the ruthless and savage leader like NK's Kim.
That's what made me worried.
I just want our next generation of Korean Americans can live in this contry holding their heads up high.
When Korea is united under "백두혈통 사교체제" then hundreds of millions of South Koreans will be perished
or will be laboring in the concentration camps.
I dread that horrific outcome of this so called 'Unification" scenario.

I am against any emotionally charged pursuit of unification.
Like it or not, there are two countries in the Korean peninsula, probably with different
kind of people, culturally changed over 70+ years in different system.
Sad, if you consider Human rights situation in the North but the prople themselves may not
realize it, what out side world is like. If you look at the people crying in the video of Kim Jung il or
Kim Il sung funeral, you would feel degree of problems and what I mean.
Gradual opening, exchange in culture, economy, etc might be the way for the time being
2018.05.12 16:22
Sad, indeed as the story goes like this after They Stoled The Country
- the country I loved as my first as US Ambassador to Korea Sung Kim said when he arrived in Seoul.
These guys, whoever they're, broke my heart.
And it's hard to tallk about 'it' and I'll let Rod Stuart sing about 'it'.
