I did watch a couple of episodes of the drama, not all--
I thought too much exaggeration in the movie but some say similar phenomena exist in the real world.
Being through SNU Med School was a respectable calling in our days and more so now
but in the real world of today prestige of SNU med School seems less in a relative sense,
with the progress made by Yonsei and other new kids on the block.
In my days, I knew of a couple of people who were accepted and attended one year or so at Yonsei-premed,
and then quit(재수) and took the entrance exam. again the following year, and then got in SNU. It would never happen
these days because of the general perception being so close between two and other top schools in Seoul.
Overall, I concur the professors of SNU Medical school, many of them did not fully fill their obligation
with the brightest young people of the country for many years, not showing the roads to them.
I am glad the new dean mentions of the new moral obligation of the school.
Hopefully, things get better.

At least our dean seems to have clear goals and objectives
as a leader in medical education.
He certainly have many models to follow including all the Ivy League
and elite medical schools, including some in Japan as well,
which are all academic medicine and research oriented.
More than half of students in Harvard Med School hold PhDs,
and all students are expected to be in academic medicine and
teachers in med schools throughput the country.
Our dean certainly will do the justice by having our alma Mater
belong to that class of med schools in the world and by avoiding
the waste of the brilliant young students' minds, if possible.

The school's prestige is more likely from the quality of students than that of the school and
the university hospital. In Korea, graduation from SNU is an entitlement to get a good job.
It does not much matter how the student perform in school. All it matters is to get the certificate
of graduation once they enter the school. Naturally, the new student selection process has
become increasingly competitive as the opportunity becomes narrower. Medical doctor is known
to be the best job in Korea for a long time and getting into SNUMC is like putting a crown on the
presiding king. Eventualy, the society where the happiness is pretty much dependent on success,
fame and money has created severely distorted unethical behavior to break the thick wall of the
admission process among the privilaged layer of the people. The drama depicted it in an exaggerated
manner. People applaud it because SNUMC students and their family are the evil and the they are
the good.
Well, SNU Medical School isn't or had not been for anybody for sure !!
Even though, then and even now, I don't think much of the school
but we should be proud of being one of the alumni of it.
Last December (2018), one of our SNUMA senior, Dr. Chong-Hun Rhee*61, suddenly passed away.
It was the first such event for about 33 of us in Laguna Woods. And we were not really well prepared.
In his funeral, there was the Laguna Woods SNU flag(or pennant) at the deck with a few flowers.
The L.A. SNU Medical Alumni Association has an SNU medical school pennant but it was too far away.
I couldn't help having some empty and nagging feeling that the deceased senior of ours
was not properly decorated and honored with our flag in the last moment of his life's journey.
After all, he was one of the SNUMA !!
On 2-19-2019, only a few days ago, LW-SNUMAC (Medical Alumni Club), had the 2019 Annual meeting.
There, I proposed to have a pennant of our own. No members argued against it.
So, I will make one for us, so that whoever departs next will be honored with our pennant.
After all, no matter how derogatively other people might say or not, aren't we the SNU-MA
that people are talking about even in a stupid Korean drama ??
