When one tips cash and leaves a blank at the tip line in the bill,
someone can write another tip in the tip line without letting the customer know.
And the customer may not remember if he tipped in the bill or tipped by cash.
One has to be careful. It may be a good thing to tip in the bill, not by cash.
When the server was extraordinarily good, one can write the normal tip in the bill
and then gives extra cash to the server. For example, writing 15% on the bill
and then handing over 5% directly by cash.
Also, one always keeps the receipt with him even though one may not keep it.
Interesting discussion.
Cash is not necessarily preferred by servers.
What servers really care about seems to be
"appropriate amount" either in cash or on a credit card.
