Biden announced that American will withdraw troops in Afghanistan unconditionally.
It was the longest war America has ever fought. I think it is most unnecessary and
wasteful war. It did not have the clear enemy. But they fired guns for 20 years. It is
not real American power but a corruptive behavior. The real power comes from innovation.
America is the birth place of almost all modern innovations. It is the reason why she
is the strongest country in the world. Let's not waste it!

I don't think US will donate vaccines to them. They have to pay the royalties
if they want to produce it by themselves. If not the direct payment, US will
demand something equivalent to the price.

Pay the royalties? You, kidding, Dr. Ohn. I might overreact based on my strong prejudice to 'lazy' people, but the poverty is not such fact to be proud of but one of the self-inflicted outcomes of human behavior as claimed by one of my closest friend/colleagues, the late Prof. Marcel Beajean of Univ of Liege, Belgium, legendary American/Mayo-trained cardiovascularr surgeon I highly admire.
Indeed, I feel the politicians never lose such opportunity to take the advantage to boost their image, saying 'temporary (?) suspension' under the name of beautiful term 'hemanitarian' action to demand proudly for a 'free' service. As Korean old saying '가난은 나라도 못구한다', they have every right NOT to work hard to enjoy the poverty but they should accept as the price of their own choice. I always quote Korean immigrants to New York to start their new lives as street vegetable venders.
Too bad but we already have too many poor peoples of our own backyard here in the U.S. They are more than enough for us as tax payers to afford for these many free loaders.

P.S. I recall one funny story I heard while I visited El Salvador many years ago: 'In El Salvador, wherever you go, you can have the breakfast whenever you want, even on 4:00 AM. But in Honduras or Nicuaragua, next door neighbor countries, you ain't gonna find a single place to have a breakfast till 11:00 AM.' I don't know how true this joke is but basically they are so lazy with such notorious name even among them/Central Americans. Indeed, I learned El Salvadorians are one of the hardest working peoples throughout Central America as I know of - I heard almost two third of the national incomes are the money El Salvadorians who work not only in the U.S. but also in Canada and Sweden (more than those in the U.S.) send. No wonder, the U.S. dollars are their national currency!-.

Dr. McLellan’s ability to find lifesaving clues in the structure of proteins has earned him deep admiration in the vaccine world. “This guy is a genius,” said Harry Kleanthous, a senior program officer at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. “He should be proud of this huge thing he’s done for humanity.”
"Fighting, Dr. Jason McLellan!" Koreans woul say. You can't beat America. We are the best.

'Generic' COVID vaccine is entirely different issue. As long as the current patency law remains valid, not much they can do but follow the rule as they set, I understand. Indeed, it seems to be a necessary evil of human nature to give them the 'incentive', we all saw through failed Soviet system. Protection of their patency is needed for the incentive by all means. Otherwise, no pharma is willing to gamble to make such huge investment to this kind of new venture, which I agree with.

P.S. I also waited so many years for the generic drugs available for my own use -blood pressure pills, pee medicines, etc!-.

Doc, I honestly have a mixed feeling to their demand to giving away hard earned vaccine as a humanitarian action! They sound like they have the right to get it free because they are same human beings, proudly telling they're too poor which is responsible by rich country. How about that? No one asked them to remain too poor to afford the vaccine? My comprehension can't accept such logics!
Free vaccine for all throughout the world only because they all look same humanoid! How about that?
Do you really think so? I don't think so!
No one asked them to remain poor! They chose to remain lazy instead of working hard like Koreans did after the War! They have the right to enjoy easygoing life instead of hard work while remaining in a poor condition. I saw them with my two eyes! But it was their own choice.
Look blue color Korean immigrants to New York or other big city in the U.S., who started to make living by running the vegetable stands, for example. They really worked so hard, getting up at three o'clock to get the freshest vegetables from the wholesaler to sell at their stores, now taking over the entire business from the Jews we all know that. Of course, they have every right to sleep late and not to work hard like Koreans but fuck around all day to make mass production of humanoids, and now claiming they have equal rights to get the free vaccine only because they look same humanoid!?
God bless America!
