I am sure you have forgiven those two idiots. See, the better guys out-numbered the bad ones.
America "was, is, and will be" still a good place for all of us, Koreans.
When the Henderson Country Club opened in the early 1980s, they invited us to join them.
I wasn't very hot in golfing then and our children were too young.
Later, in 1985, we joined the club with no problems.
Henderson, KY is south of the Mason Dixon Line but I've never had any racial problem.
Naturally, there were a lot of red-necks there but the people were nice to us, only two Asians in town.
I guess they needed me and had no choice.
As an only board-certified thoracic surgeon, I was in a commanding position.
Anyway, I still appreciate their hospitality. My big thanks to them.
After our having been free souls in Colorado and California for more than 20 years,
I am not sure if I would go back to Kentucky again.
When one did not realize something bad, it was not that bad to live there.

Si Woo Kim is currently -8.

Bryson Dechambeau won. He was born in Modesto, Ca where I live. He grew up in Clovis Ca near
Fresno. His impressive body and unmatched driving distance with accuracy is the result of his hard work.
He eats very nutritious meals and takes protein drinks. On 18th hole, his drive reached 365 yards landed
on the short grass.

Thank you, Dr. Ohn, for your comment.
My son-in-law went to high school in Modesto.
Bryson DeChambeau is just awesome and a rising star like Tiger Wood once was.
He demolished the DGC with his A game.
What a performance!
thoroughly enjoyed it.

Does he know Del Rio CC? That's where I play golf 8 days a week.

Detroit Golf Club did a magnificent job for this tournament.
This was 2nd year for them to be the host and the weather was perfect.
Bryson DeChambeau was the eventual winner and I congratulate
his 6th PGA win in the last 4 years. His swings seemed to be more
mechanical rather than coming from natural talent.
4 Korean boys have passed cuts, but none of them were at the leaders' board.
Sungjae Im is 3rd in FedEx Rankings though.
I have a fond memory of this course as well. We, 4 friends and wives,
had got together alternating hosts at their own CC. We had played golf
together and dinner afterward. Those were olden days, golden days of ours,
which would be cherished in our minds forever!
Thanks very much for this presentation! Hahnjoong! KJ

Indeed we have some fond memories there.

Dr. Ohn,
My son-in-law told his mother-in-law he knows your club well.
I googled it and was impressed. It has 27 holes and a great club house and all.
am glad you have such a paradise to relax in.
By the way how can you play golf 8 days a week. I never could do that.

I joined Detroit Golf Club in July of 1989 and resigned in 2014 so that
I was a member there for 25 years which opened up another dimension in my social life
fulfilling my desire to be part of mainstream American life. Five MDs, all good friends of mine
with one of them having been one time president of the club, sponsored my application.
All ten board directors had to approve yet two voted nay because I was Asian. All my sponsors
who are wasps got mad and wrote a nasty letter together stating they felt ashamed by knowing that
still there are racists among the directors. Next month board directors had a special meeting and
passed my application. I joined a men's league called "Unholy Dozen". Some twenty of us automatically
showed up at 9 AM every Sunday and played, then had drinks and lunch.
Many of them and their families became my patients, and some died under my care.
Except a few all are gone now. The putter I've been using for over seven years is
that of one of my golfing buddies. His wife gave it to me when he died.
My hospital and my office were only two miles from the club, and
my physician colleagues and I often would jump over
the club whenever we have any chance to play.
My partners who were not golfers weren't all that happy about it, I believe,
although they never complained to me.
My wife and I certainly have many fond memories there.
Although there were still a few racists, they were minority in number
when compared to other private clubs in Detroit Metro.
My constant challenge in those days of my youth was to challenge whatever racial barriers
I encountered both professionally and socially.
In looking back it was all good learning process personally, I believe.
