I submit this pictures just for a sample exhibition.
If there will be another competition in the future, this can be a good example.
I am not in the competition for the SNUCMAA award.
Please do not vote on this submission.
This was another memorable trip. I walked 20 miles of desert sand in a day in 10 hours.
I almost died there by dehydration but someone above must have given me the wisdom
and strength to reach the final destination safely at the end of the day.
This is only a part of 6 webpage series of the entire 20-mile-trip.
You can see the rest by clicking the links in the main article.
They are as much memorable as this one. If you have time, you are welcome to look through.
Upper Buckskin Gulch (3), Middle Entrance, and Lower Buckskin Gulch (1) Buckskin 上流 협곡(3), 중간 入口, Buckskin 下流 (1)

I continued on alone and finanllay arrived at the Middle Entrance/Trail of the Buckskin Gulch at 12:14 PM, exactly 4 hours after the start at the Wire Pass Trailhead. Considering that Wire Pass Canyon was 1.75 miles and the Buckskin Gulch up to this point was 6.5 miles, I covered the entire 8.25 miles in 4 hours, giving me about 2 miles per hour speed. Because, in my case without the plan of overnight stay, the success depended on my safe arrival at the White House trailhead today, my pace (speed) was important. At this pace, I might be able to arrive at the destination at about 6:00 PM, providing that I could maintain my stamina with no unforeseen accidents. Up to the Middle Entrance, I knew that I did hurry up and I decided to keep it going in the same pace. Keeping the Arizona duo behind me was another safety measure for me. In case of any trouble, they will be arriving to me very soon as rescuers. I also had chosen Saturday because BLM had full reservations for today (Saturday) and tomorrow, placing more potential helps behind me. On the way down the upper (upstream) half of the Buckskin before the Middle Entrance, I had noticed several areas of openings where one could have climbed out with a reasonable rock climbing skills in case of sudden flooding of the canyon. Also, there were many distant corners in the rock walls away from the main flood channel that I could use to keep myself from being swept away. After having passed the Middle Entrance, I stopped for lunch and rest at 12:31 PM. My appetite wasn't good and the sandwich didn't taste good, something that are rare occurrences in my eating. To me, it was an easy diagnosis that I was in moderate-severe degree of dehydration. On the way in, I must have gotten behind in my drinking of enough water. After 15 minutes' lunch break, as I was leaving the lunch site , Jason and Don caught up with me. I kept them just in front of me for more picture taking without the tripod setup. 12:09 PM, June 23, 2007: I was getting close to the Middle Trail. Please note the colors of the rock walls that change all the time. 12:10 PM: Large shelf formations. I would say this part of the trail just before the Middle entrance is most remarkable. If one does not have a lot of time or stamina, just enter the canyon through the Middle Entrance and tour this section. 12:13 PM: It will take only 2-3 hours to see this part by entering and getting out through the Middle Entrance. Just remember that entering and leaving the Middle entrance could be dangerous. It's not an easy route. 12:14 PM: Finally I walked into the Middle Entrance/Trail. Immediately, I identified the exit slope that I'd seen in the picture. This is a natural stairway-like steep slope in front (going up to the northern rim of the canyon). 12:15 PM: As I enter the Middle Entrance, this is the rock wall that greeted me. The exit route/wall is at left. 12:15 PM: This is where I came in from upstream canyon. 12:16 PM: The gulch entrance toward southeast (down stream). 12:16 PM: The entrance from upstream is between the left two rock walls. The slope left of the middle crack is the exit wall. 12:19 PM: Nothing unusual, but I added a few more pictures of Middle Entrance area for the future visitors to recognize. 12:20 PM: The beginning of the lower half of the Buckskin. This is the mid-point of the entire Buckskin Gulch. 12:24 PM: A few places before the lunch stop. 12:47 PM: Going with the Phoenix twosome after the lunch break of 15 minutes. Dusts arising from dried mud. 12:53 PM: I was following them and took pictures. Pictures are much better with peoples in it. 13:05 PM: Jason, Don and Steven. Another resting stop and I join them.
