LPGA.com counts down to the end of 2014 with the LPGA Tour's top 14 stories of the year. Join us as we look back at the year's most memorable milestones. Read about Mo Martin’s Triumph at Royal Birkdale in Story No. 6. “Is this real life?” Those were the first four words that Mo Martin said when she first learned that she had won the RICOH Women’s British Open. The story is almost too good to be real life. On the 72nd hole of one of golf’s biggest stages, the girl known as “Mighty Mo” delivered a shot for the ages that resulted in an eagle and made her a major champion. On the par-5 18th at Royal Birkdale, Martin hit a three-wood that struck the pin. It left her with a six-foot putt for eagle and put Martin in the clubhouse at 1-under-par which held up for the UCLA Grad. “It’s still soaking in, along with the champagne on my jacket,” said Martin, who was doused by many of her fellow LPGA players after her win. “This is just unbelievable. It’s literally a dream come true.” But it wasn’t just the shot on 18 that made the difference. The 31-year-old American was the only player to finish under par at Royal Birkdale during the week, shooting an even-par 72 in the final round on a day when the conditions proved the toughest. Martin’s round of 72 tied for the lowest round of the day and gave her the LPGA victory that she had so long been seeking. What makes Martin’s story even more impressive is how she got to the Tour. Martin spent six years working her way to the LPGA Tour. After winning three times on the Symetra Tour over that span, Martin finally made her LPGA dream come true as a 29-year-old rookie in 2012. And the man who was there cheering her the entire way was her grandfather, Lincoln, who passed away this past March at the age of 102. The two had become the best of friends and in memory of her grandfather, Martin wears an “L” necklace around her neck. A well-liked journeyman pro who captures her first win at a major championship? It’s the type of Cinderella story that only happens every once in a while in sports and even those experiencing such an event are left slightly awestruck and saying “Is this real life?” |

Career Grand Slam in golf is extremely hard to get unless you
are Jack Niclaus,Tiger Woods,or Annika Sorenstam.
Tiger Woods had made so called Tiger Slam(4 consecutive wins
of Grand Slam, but not smae year).Inbee Park had almost made
last year unless Mo Martin was on her way.
Great Players as Arnold Palmer(US Open),Tom Watson(PGA Championship),
and our Seri Pak(Kraft Nabisco Championship) could not achieve this task.
The followings are list of career Grand Slam in LPGA. KJ
Career Grand Slam in LPGA
(Winning all designated majors in player's career)
Louise Suggs 1957
Mickey Wright 1962
Pat Bradley 1986
Juli Inkster 1999
Karrie Webb 2001
Annika Sorenstam 2003
Closing in on the Career Grand Slam
Laura Davies Kraft Nabisco Championship
Meg Mallon Kraft Nabisco Championship
Se Ri Pak Kraft Nabisco Championship
Yani Tseng U.S. Women's Open
Inbee Park British Open or Evian Championship(she won it before becoming mjor)
That Mo Martin's unbelievable almost double eagle 2nd shot at 72nd hole
in British Open 2014 was 'Dream come true' winning shot for her,but
the shot to preventing career Grand Slam for Inbee Park.
Life was twisted always that way,but going on without stopping as yesterday or yesteryear. KJ
