Almost-13 is such an interesting age. Most of the time I don't think Noah is listening, but maybe sometimes he is. This is a poem by Noah, written in English class, and I think we are all mentioned in some way. (I think he would give me permission to share). Regina Cho
from Atomics and an airplane I am from Snowmass Mountain, Its winding trails cut white stripes through a great mound of green. I am from the mountains, Prior Lake It's shimmering sea of blue reflects the sky. I'm from the Ohio St.-Michigan game and hard work from Geoff and Sungja And Bernt I'm from worriers and rule-followers From Do your homework and Practice music I'm from Mishkan T'filah, and menorahs I'm from Chicago, Illinois, japchae and bulgogi. From the mirror my great grandfather carried to freedom, The map that was stolen from my grandfather in Barcelona. I am a Jew, half Korean I am loud, but sometimes soft spoken live in Minnesota, but am from the sky, And I look up, aspiring to be something more. |

He seems more mature than his age,
Far more thoughtful than his grandma thinks he is.
What a promising and great boy he is from his ancestral heritage
and with some Korean sentiments!

Very Nice little Poem!
For a thirteen year old, he seems to have a real flair for poetry.
Congrats!

I am afraid I may have stepped over the boundary of the privilage endowed on us in this room.
When my daughter sent us her son Noah's poem to share with our family,
I was so moved to see his inner thoughts expressed so eloquently at the age of 13.
His life seems vigorously involved with his interests such as music, baseball, ski,
as a geography and history buff, and a specially keen interest in the domain of AIRPLANES.
The way he introduced himself relating with the physical SKY at the beginning
and ending the poem using SKY as a metaphor for his future is very impressive for me.
Thank you for your kind comments on this young boy's expression on searching for his own identity,
while being aware of his unique heritage.
I selfishly loved finding out my name represented as a part of his Korean heritage.
May be he is asking me to make more Japchae and Bulgogi, ha, ha!
Noah lives in Minneapolis with his parents, Geoffrey Getnick and Regina Cho with his two siblings.
Thank you for allowing me to share my grandson's poem with you!
