"That's the way it was"
Walter Cronkite used to end his CBS Evening News before he stepped down.
Now,
I can say "Past is Past".
Now and Today,
What's happening in South Korea?
Let's read the following news article and let us know what you think.
It's about the Special Envoys to N. Korea including The Man we know.

“Is S. Korea divided into two nations?
Not at all. If a nation has only one opinion, it is very unlikely a democratic
country. Korean people have difference of opinion on various issues and
they are freely expressing it.
However, South Koreans are collectively anti-communist(anti-North Korea),
anti-Japanese, and pro-American and people have difference of opinion in
dealing with adversaries and allies.
Opportunistic politicians use the opposing views for uniting their supporters
by framing their opponent as pro-enemies,i.e. pro-Japanese and pro-North.
I strongly believe that Koreans are conscious enough to weed out these clever
politicians by electing the right one for the future of Korea.
For the last 5-6 years, I have studied modern history of Korea through internet and books.
Almost everyday, I am surprised by how much I did not know and how wrong what I have
understood was.
It is a common practice that the government disseminates false informations when it needs
to carry out its policies. The public is misinformed frequently even in U.S.A..
The misinformed public can form a harmful opinion for the future of a country.

I am really glad and proud that you wrote the political (as well as historical) essay above.
When I didn't see the name of the author, I did suspect that it was you, Doc.
Congratulations on your intelligent thoughts and views!
What is important is how to utilize one's depth of knowledge into a workable conclusion in reality.
I have noticed that you have been doing them so well.
As you said, "South Koreans are collectively anti-communist(anti-North Korea), anti-Japanese, and pro-American..."
I, together with most of us, used to believe the same idea. Not anymore nowadays...
Unfortunately, South Korea is fatefully and critically divided into two factions, right and left.
The nation doesn't seem to know which direction it wants to go.
The presence of North Korea keeps us from living together with both ideas.
For democratic South Korea, it can not take both ideas.
It is either "do as an independent nation" or "die by joining North Korea".
We seem to be standing at a fork in the road and has not yet decided which one to take.
The South Koreans are being manipulated by the North's communist regime
and also is suffering from the capitalistic social-class-separation of the rich and poor.
The poor newly born child of the World War 2 in Korean Peninsula doesn't seem to know what to do.

A very nice article, looking through the history of modern Koreas (North and South both).
It explains the ideological divisions in the early stage of liberated Korea from Japan
and the fateful formation of the North and South Korea.
It even explains the modern day South Korean politics.
Is South Korea to divide into two separate nations now?
Who is the author of this political essay?
