My daughter had acute appendicitis a few years ago. She was given a choice of
immediate surgery and antibiotic treatment. She chose the latter and got better
in a few days. But it came back several months later and it was surgically removed.
In order to eliminate the chance of false diagnosis, CAT scan is a routine diagnostic
test. Now, antibiotic has to be tried before surgery. Things are getting better.

In this study they gave IV infusion of antibiotic first followed by
oral antibiotics for 10 days. wonder if your daughter received IV antibiotic first.
As they said in the article, the main concern should be possible rupture of appendix
by delaying Rx so that IV antibiotic make sense for rapid onset of antibiotic Rx.
You are correct on CT scan.

I don't remember how she got antibiotic. At that time I didn't know if antibiotic
therapy is effective for appendicitis and I told her to have the surgery done.
'But she chose medical treatment.
It is good to know we can treat acute appendicitis with antibiotics in 70%
of the cases just as effectively as surgery.
