Thanks, KwanHo.
I am now on way to Beijing, sitting at the Airport responding to your kind interpretation s on the photos I took while I visit Hangzhou, I believe it was through my second visit.
All the interpretations are correct, much better than my interpretation!
Indeed Hangzhou is an hour and a half train ride distance from Shanghai so that I was told Hangzhou is one of the most popular destinations for Korean tourists. So I am sure many of this website readers had a chance to visit there already so that I don't want to talk about such physical beauty but I feel it is worthy to talk about its historical background by its critical location along JOONGWON - sorry I can't quote Chinese character with my cell phone I use now!-. So I wish you to share your knowledge on so many sagas with us.
BB Lee
P.S. I come back home on November 2 to extend this trip to Shanghai to deliver one more lecture so that I will respond after this trip since China doesn't allow Google together with Gmail as well. Besides, my other email through Comcast rejected outgoing mail often last year so that I don't rely on the internet connection while in China.

Forgot to talk about the photos of Chinese Traditional Opera you also kindly enclosed. I am sure all know this classic opera was one of the main targets to attack during the Cultural Revolution so that the perception among the new generation is different from old-timers in our age group I learned. But it survived through such turmoil and further, through the last decades they try to introduce their such invaluable heritage to foreigners as well as their own new generation and there are now so many modifications to allow us to understand and enjoy better with limited knowledge on their history.
So I strongly recommend to our alumni to include this Chinese opera- though I gave up to teach(?) my wife to enjoy (she simply hates artificially distorted high pitched screeching voice according to her interpretation - which is now as much as enjoyable as Japanese Kabuki I love most, since almost all Chinese operas have such interesting real historical background we are familiar with. Indeed every region of such vast China keeps its unique style worthy to notice. My personal feeling toward Shanghai-style is more favorable. The photos I took were a special occasion for the banquet for the international congress and the organizers invited one famous group to show what Chinese opera should mean and the story was based on HANGWOO and WUMIIN we all are familiar with.

Have a great time during your trip.
By the way what is the title of this opera in question?
I will talk to you further.

What classic gentlemen you two, 두선배님들, are!
What a classic exchange of warm words out of an admirable old friendship between you two!
What a good feeling that I feel by looking at the pictures of the ancient Chinese culture and land!
Thank you so much, 두선배님들, for the classic treat!

Thank you very much, Dr. 이. You have been kind to me,
but BB is the person who deserves his proper recognition and consequently admiration.
I might refresh our dim memory that BB started to be the leader of our class called 반장.
He had such a great personality that everyone had to like him.
I am very happy that he joins our great exchanges.

Simply 14 hour flight is too much to 80 year old age I once again admitted through this trip. Indeed, in younger days I didn't hesitate to go to the conference directly from the airport after overnight trip to different continent with no trouble bragging about marine corps training-equivalent surgery training to become a transplant surgeon. Well, no more, in these days! But thank goodness, Chinese colleaguesa are especially age conscious so that they always book my trip with one day break before the meeting, thanks to their Confucian custom!
I am now here enjoying all morning - slept only 4 hours as usual - after early breakfast and catch up the CNN news and write/reply many trivial businesses leisurely and spared the time to write to this Website to thank to Dr. Lee HJ first for nice compliment on our communication in regard to Chinese poems, etc.
Indeed I am more interested in the history than such high brow poems, though trying hard to learn especially to show up to my Chinese colleagues- cheap skate intention, isn't it! -, only GONGJA (KwannHo's nickname as I mentioned before) can enjoy fully with enough knowledge!
But belatedly learned that the poems are the ultimate way to enjoy the history of Chinese civilization which I statrted to learn soon after the elementary school days based on Three Kingdom Story/SAMGOOKJI.
I regret I didn't take advantage on my similar background of KyungSangDo YANGBAN, especially my mother side family which is rather well known by their son, Cho JiHoon, nationally known poet who happens to be my mother's nephew, to learn Chinese poems like KwanHo did.
For some reason, I was rebellious to old Confucian rule/tradition and much defiant to my mother who became a leader/ symbol of YURIM keeping the tradition so that I never tried to learn - my mother, Cho AeYoung is also well known nationally for Chinese as well as Korean calligraphy and served to teach this to Present Park JungHie's wife, YOOK YUOSA -, which was simply stupid I regret dearly.
So, belatedly whenever I have a chance in these days, I try to catch up, tanks to GONGJA!
BB Lee
p.s. I make one night trip to Shanghai this time so I do not have a luxury to enjoy Chinese Opera or the China best museum - I spared the time to visit twice before and definitely better than poor(?) cousin Beijing Museum but Shanghai museum is THE best museum of all throughout the country.

Forgot to answer to KwanHo in regard to the name of the Opera I provided it's photo and video. It was NOT the formal theatre performance but rather organized for the special foreign guests as an excerpt form in similar fashion of dinner theater you all familiar with. I did not take the photo of it's program/brochure to explain but if I remember correctly, it was last scene of departure of HANGWOO and his lover WOOMIIN, both were tragically killed themselves. Especially the last scene HANGWOO encountered with such famous SAMYUNCHOGA before he rather killed himself than shamefully return to his proud country CHO, was so moving! I saw another version, similar, while in Chungquing, decades ago at the formal theatre and had a special chance to visit to their dressing room as well! Another impressive performance I recall was 'Autmn in Han Palace?.
I haven't been at Beijing Opera House lately but they were planning to install simultaneous translation screen on the bac k of chair, to translate word by word like Metropolitan Opera House. So I encourage you all NOT to hesitate to spare one evening for Chinese Opera though you must study the story like Kabuki ahead of time. Otherwise all may look and sound like screaming and loud gong sounds!!!
All the best,
BB Lee

The first opera is definitely the most famous scene showing farewell by 우미인 to 항우.
The title was 패왕별희(覇王別姬): 초패왕이 우희를 이별하다.
In English it is Opera Farewell My Concubine.
The second seems to be 한궁추야우 (漢宮秋夜雨): 한궁에 내리는 가을 밤비.

Just got back to Beijing from Shanghai and write you thanks.
Yes, I recall it's title was Farewell to my Concubine!
Good to have someone like you to keep my brain function!
Since Google is prohibited here in China I can't open YouTube but when I get back home a week later I certainly will see it.
Warm regards,
BB
P.S. last night over the dinner table I had a hot discussion with young peoples/ contestants of best paper presentation I se erved as a judge, in regard to the classic poems which are now reintroduced with simplied Chinese alphabets and was very annoyed with their rejection of original Chinese characters rejecting it's need per education by the Party. Sad!!!!!

I suddenly come up with a thought that I might communicate with couple Chinese Doctors who have been
close to you in reference to Chinese literature and poems.
Since they cannot enter here not being SNUMCAA members, they could possibly use my email
or even facebook.
The exchanges will be limited to the Chinese literature or poems, absolutely not politics.
You might get their opinions.I will be excited if such opportunity is offered. If not, that's OK.
Years ago, I was close to a Chinese junior resident from Taiwan named Dr. M. S. Mak who eventually offered me
a precious Chinese Poetry book, which I still keep. He even wrote his name 麥文碩(맥문석) dated 9/15/70.
We had discussed about a lot of Chinese poems in those days.
Once in a while, I remember him and want to communicate with him, but I don't know how to contact him.
Have a great time,
Kwan Ho

It should't be easy, KwanHo. But if I were you I would write to Taiwanese Medical Association, first - do Googling to get their website if you would- and give his name and specialty and they will be able to locate him for you unless he was fully retired! I found a few colleagues in obscure country like Kyrghizstan as well as Uzbekistan through same way to restore the communication and it worked beautifully, thanks to Google!
I also would like to have your email address as well, in case.
Regards,
BB Lee
P.S. BTW, KwanHo, as I previously asked you through my reply to your article #6636, is there any way to get the collection of all these Chinese poems you shared through this Website? I tried to make the copy from the website but failed to figure it out yet. Perhaps, Steve could help me but I wish to have them all in my tablet to carry around and read on bedtime! I only can reciprocate with my humble books and journal publications I keep at Drop Box but they all are boring so that I do not offer you unless you are curious.

Dear BB:
Do you really want all of my Chinese poems from Day 1, 08/06/2014 until now?
I can make the titles and URL's for all of them if you are serious in all my Chinese poems.
It will take some time, but if you really want them, I will gladly comply with your request.
Once you get the titles and URL's, you have no problem in opening the contents, only by clicking the URL's.
I will have to send them directly to your email.
Please send me your email address. My email address is kwnchung@yahoo.com
Sincerely,
Kwan Ho
2019.10.25 23:14
Wow, what is URL, KwanHo?
However it sounds like quite a work for you.
All I want is to get the copy of those poems you collected to share through last few years I enjoyed so much.
Of course it would be very interesting to peep your life time collection through the lists!
Warm regards,
BB
P.S. I rush to correct my wrong information on Louyang/NAKYANG museum I believe I provided as a part of my previous communication to one of your articles in regard to the lack of information on DuFu at the Louyang Museum I stopped over. Indeed I learned this evening over the dinner from one colleague from Zhengzhou who told me they temporarily closed the section for DuFu to expand/renovate when I visited. Now they have a full separate section for DuFu! I am sure for anyone interested in DuFu, it should be worthy to include Louyang.

Dear BB:
Don't worry. It will take couple days at most but you will get quite a surprise in your email.
I will tell you how to open all my webpages of Chinese poems and essays. which will be very easy.
In the meantime please give me your email address here and then you may delete it once I tell you to.
Sincerely
Kwan Ho

Wow, great!
I prefer bblee38@comcast.net which is one of my private emails.
Thaaaaanks, KwanHo.

Dear BB: Where are you? Your artistic works here are waiting for you.
