(Korea axes SK-Japan Intelligence exchange pact)
When are we going to see NK joins SK anti-Japan campaign?
Uncle Sam would not allow Japan and SK to fight each other.
Both country will have a hard time to do as their rhetorics suggest.
It might be a political gesture. SK will get what she needs and
Japan will get the intelligence that she asks for.

The U.S. wants South Korea and Japan to be partners and friends in order to stand
against North Korea and China who are getting stronger day by day.
They are soon to be equal to the U.S. or even may exceed her soon.
It sounds like a very good idea for the U.S. But, then, how about South Korea and Japan?
Are SK and Japan the slaves of the U.S. who exist only for the U.S.?
Now, South Koreans (including me) will never trust Japan for a partner.
If there's a relationship between the two, Japan's eventual betrayal is already written down in the scenario.
Japan is not to be trusted. They are hypocritic people. They will never be Koreans' friend.
Our parents and ancestors have been saying that for a long time.
South Korea, somehow, should find a partnership with North Korea.
One Korea should find friendship in another Korea. Anything else is no good for us.
If Koreans can combine the North's nuclear power and the South's technology,
they don't have to listen to anyone in the world, including the U.S., Japan, China, and Russia.
That's the way to go. The only problem is how can we achieve that?
One of two Koreas has to bite a bitter pill. Otherwise, both Koreas will never get out of slavery.

Partnership with North Korea with friendly North Koreans?
Unified South Koreans for unification under North Korean Regime?
If that means the unified South Koreans moving to the pro-North Korean Communism,
I would rather stick to the corrupt South Korean Free Society.
If South Koreans adore Kim Jung Eun (?right spell) and volunteer to be subject to his reckless and cruel rules,
don't you know their lives will become misery itself?
Do you already forget our cherished dictum, "If no freedom, give me death" 자유가 아니면 죽음을 달라!
It still rings my ears!

The world order has changed from Chinese(Middle Kingdom ), imperialism,
Great Britain, Cold War to U.S.. Standard money that used for trade were Chinese
silver when Middle Kingdom was the dominant power. Then it was gold and
British pound. Nowadays, U. S. is holding the world order with mighty dollar.
Cold War had ended. Communists countries that we know disappeared. There are
communists countries, but they are not soviet dependent and quite independent.
China and Vietnam are often called communist country, but in fact they are socialistic
capitalist country with one party dictatorship. The party is communist party, but they
are far from communist doctrine.
North Korea is a communist originated kingdom. It is the most redundant form of government
in modern era. However she became a nuclear nation. Since North Korea exhibited her nuclear
power with several nuclear explosions and shooting missile to Pacific Ocean, the whole world
started to treat NK tenderly. Trump has been leading the reconciliatory attitude.
In my opinion, the current international sentiment is nationalism. Every nation is trying to stand
alone and rediscover her old values. The old value has been hidden strategically because of interference
of super power; U. S. or U.S.S.R..Korea is not an exception in the new trend. Her old value is
one nation liberated from Japan. Japan’s old value is the imperialistic old power and Abe is trying
to recover her own army by changing constitution. Don’t forget the conqueror of Japan is U.S..
Korean’s common enemy is Japan. Existence of common enemy creates unified force. Regardless,
world peace will be held by trade.

Well, Dr. Chung, we have been carrying your old idea for so long. I have been brain-washed in it too.
But, as you see, where are we now? We are still in the same shithole of being the slaves of the U.S. and China.
Do we want to go on like this forever?
Please look at Vietnam and European ex-Soviet nations.
I visited there and took a look. Believe or not, they are free and alive very well.
Who says NK will overpower SK. It could be the other way. We will never know unless we try.
I know that my idea is rather radical. I am completely off to the traditional South Korean thinking.
But why did South Koreans vote Moon as their president? Let them get what they wanted.
Sitting in America, why are we worrying about loosing our freedom?
You are an American, not a Korean.
Your freedom is very safe unless NK or China take over USA.
Look at CNN news this morning. See what they (the U.S.) are thinking.
Both Koreas and Japan are nothing but pawns in the power game between the U.S. and China.
You want to stay like that forever?
Japan and South Korea The feud between Japan and South Korea is getting worse, and it looks like China and North Korea could come out as winners. Japan and South Korea are engaged in a bitter trade dispute, and South Korea took the tension up a notch yesterday by scrapping its military intelligence-sharing agreement with Japan. The conflict has threatened global tech manufacturers and important alliances, but China and North Korea have seen incidental benefits. The breakdown of communication between Japan and South Korea means security cooperation and monitoring of North Korea has diminished. It also alienates the US, which holds a strong military alliance with South Korea and Japan. With those links weakened, China may move to increase its influence in the region.

I respect the opinions of everyone here. I am only expressing my own thought.
I am forever against the communistic idea.
I do not claim that I am right and you are wrong. Please don't misunderstand.

Your disclaimer is loud and clear, WM.
I liked that since I believe we are all of the same breed
with similar beliefs, etc.
As Dr. Chung reminded us, SK must not, cannot,
take chances losing the freedom, the free democracy,
she has won in exchange for so much blood shed,
so much sacrifices by the Koreans, no matter how appealing
the murderer, Kim, with his nuclear bombs may be to the
political idealists or whoever they may be.
Donald Trump may be gone soon, and US policy towards Korea
may change. In the meantime South Koreans must adhere to
what they value most with the political freedom being on top of the list.

I don't know where South Korea should go from here.
Status quo is not a solution, to be dependent upon American policy all the time.
I know Japan is not, and can not be our friend, but should she be our eternal mortal enemy?
On the other hand North Korea is our main enemy (주적).
There is no room for South Korea to negotiate with North Korea for sure.
China cannot be our friend since the Red Chinese killed so many Korean soldiers.
We don't seem to have any choice except for maintaining strong alliance with America as of now.
The above is only my gut feeling, not any logical opinion.

Here’s what I think SK should do. Abandon the policy that denuclearization is
prerequisite for 남북교류. Try to convince U.S. first. If U.S. does not agree,
do it anyway. She must lean on China and Russia in the process. See what happens
with U.S.. At the same time, rethink relationship with U.S.. SK must increase defense budget
to be “independent defense force”. When the time comes, ask U.S. troops to leave
Korea. Both SK and NK seek for the neutrality when both got stronger. Allies and enemies
are constantly changing internationally. It was very easy to align yourself during Cold War.
It became no longer so easy nowadays.
