How the defense industry helped prolong the Afghan War

Actually, Joe Biden is going against the "military defense industry complex". They will 

try to make him unpopular as far as they can. Naturally, Fox News is in the front line.

The US is also corrupted but Afghanistan is worse. If you owned a lot of defense industry 

stocks, you may not feel so bad that your tax money went to the Afghan war.

I am dismayed to find out that America has run the ring of Military-Defense Industry-Think tank-Media -State Department and it is the true reason why the ridiculous war continued so long. 
Is it a free market? Or the state-sponsored economy? I am not sure it is better than the Chinese red industry. The foundation of the free market is "ethics". Corruption kills everything, the economy and the state alike.
