Question is how serious Koreans should be about unification for now.
Soon or later?? That is the question.
For now, NK and SK are two different countries,
Same past history and yet , two different culture, almost different languages for almost 70 years of
animosity.-----Sad reality, sad history of us,Koreans.
Like 삼국시대, probably different languages, very difficult to travel, differnt culture for hundreds of years.
Struggles between countries will continune. Whether it's trade issue, national defense, finance,diplomacy,-
one would try to win at the expense and sacrifice of the other country in the end, no matter how politicians portray
in the media.
Just hope politicians have visions . wisdom, strategy for next round of battle and also for next generation as well.
Divergence of interests between US and Korea is inevitable because
U.S. can not be as serious as Koreans about unification of Korea.
During Cold War, pretty much all nations were lined up behind
Soviet and U.S.. Now, all nations increasingly are on their own.
Sooner or later, both North and South Koreans will put unification
first and U.S. will put U.S. interest first. That is the defense against
China. Likewise, China's interest is defense against U.S.. In other
words, it is against SK where U.S. troops are. China will not like
SK with U.S. troops moves up to Yalu river. Trump is simply fastening
the inevitable.
