I've been to almost every corner in South Korea but never put my footprints in 포천.
I guess it must be in an odd location. My sincere apology for still not knowing where the hell "포천" is.
My best guess is that it is somewhere in the north-eastern Kyunggi-Do.
Hey, I am not saying that 포천 is a "hellish" place. I just used a natural American phrase!
However, we are "even-steven" because you also won't have any idea
where I was born even if I tell you the name of my place.
Is there a river or 개천? In that case, the 포천 villagers should be proud of "you" as the "개천에서 난 용".
Should they pay more attention to their 개천 rather than their 연꽃 연못?

Thank you, gentlemen, for your interesting comments.
I have a wishful thinking that if any of you have a chance to go to Korea,
you may consider paying a visit to my hometown.
It's only an hour drive from Seoul thanks to the good highway system.
I could have my baby brother treat you lunch or something.
Steven, I believe you were born in 강원도 somewhere one month later than me.
FYI, Steven, 포천 is about 24 km north of 의정부. 연천 is west of 포천.
I know 임선생's hometown is 가평, which is east of 포천, both 두메산골.

You got to be very proud of your brother, Dr. Lee, who organized such unusual activity for his hometown to make it nation famous! I am sure his unique college education and experience gave him this brilliant foresight, not many could have. I certainly will spare the time to visit 포천 when I should visit Korea.
Indeed, I had a chance to visit 포천 twice to stay overnights because one of my high school - 경기- buddies, 김윤재, was from 포천, who went to 연대 and actively involved to the local politics later (your brother might know him). And still remember his mother gave such lavish welcome to her son's friends from Seoul, besides unique countryside sceneries I vividly remember.
BB Lee
P.S. Through my buddy 김윤재, I also met one very impressive local boy- 지홍해?- who went to 서울고 and later to 서울대 법대- l still remember him with such persuasive conversation and later became a politician/국회 의원 from 포천!!!

What an elite family, Dr. Lee, we don't see often. You and your family deserved the compliments to become a model family to Koreans.

This is my hometown where my forefathers had settled several hundred years ago and I was born.
On the other hand I feel sad because I have a tough time finding the traces of the old town I grew up in
other than the tall mountains I used to climb.
On my second thought I'm happy by knowing the villagers are happy, and the village is beautiful and
seems prosperous and will be sustained with a promising future.
