Overturning Einstein Physcist Julian Barbour is rewriting Albert Einstein's rules of space, time and gravity. Einstein's space and time fabric left a few loose threads that cosmologists have struggled to tie up. General relativity alone cannot explain the observed motions of galaxies or the way the universe seems to expand. If Einstein's model of gravity is correct, around 96% of the cosmos appears to be missing, which led to as yet unidentified dark matter and dark energy. Einstein's relativity theory also failed to reconcile with quantum mechanics. Einstein got the idea of space and time and relativity from Ernst Mach, Austrian physicist. Long before Einstein, Mach had advocated a "truly relative theory." Barbour studied Mach and realized that Einstein failed to implement Mach ideas in the most direct way because he thought that way was too hard. Barbour felt that Einstein had taken a circuitous route to reframing the cosmos. By 1964 Barbour who was finishing graduate school decided to pick up where Mach had left off in defiance of Einstein. With his father's indirect encouragement, he decided to dedicate the rest of life to this project by working by himself at a farm house at South Newington, England. In 1975 Bruno Bertotti, an Italian physcist joined him. By 1982, these two had come up with a new theory of gravity that described the world just as accurately as Einstein's general relativity but without invoking time as a fundamental dimension. They have radically reformulated Einstein in different light. More young physcists like Sean Gryb and Gomes joined his endeavor. Barbour remains convinced that Einstein didn't go far enough: relativity wasn't truly relative so that fundamental inconsistencies in Einstein's model of the universe remained. Barbour, now 75, has dedicated over 40 years, waiting to be vindicated when so many physcists embrace what to him are clearly illusions about Einstein's space and time. .... Dr. Lee
I lost the issue you quoted somewhere with the Einstein's portait portrait upside down on the cover.
But I found an earlier issue Dec. 2011, Discover with a short article,
"THE PERILS OF MESSING WITH RELATIVITY".
The issue also says they recently found out the "neutrino" is faster than light.
It seems the equation we learned in most instances are applicable for practical use: making atom bomb, making nuclear reactor, GPS system design etc,
Then why Einstein chose the light as C.
Answer is simple.
He did not know any other stuff faster than light?
Apparently, using the speed of light, the GPS system design, measuing the cosmic distances, etc. they did not have
much problem, the article says.
Then, to my simple mind, the light speed may not be an ultimate number, fixed speed, as they will find out other
stuff faster than light.
Question:
Can the light travel a bit faster or slower than the regular light?
I think so. ㅎㅎㅎ
I can run faster than a super-sonic jet for 10 seconds.
How?
If I run inside of the supersonic jet cabin in foward direction, my speed will be
(jet airplane speed + my running speed).
If we shoot the light to east,
the Light will travel = (Light speed+ speed of earth moving as meassued on the surface of earth)
If we shoot the light to west, the other way around: light will travel slower, with the speed of light less the speed of earth moving. Of course the speed of earth moving is negligible in comparsion to the speed of light, but it cannot be
ignored.
What you thnink?

And when all else fails to explain the order of the universe (if there's such thing),
then a scholar (or scientist) turns around and says that the universe is God's creation.
(That's exactly what was quoted by Dr. Lee in one of the previous article in our website.)
Since even a country-church pastor with just elementary education, or anyone of us can say that,
should the "distinguished and highly honored" Princeton scientist return the Nobel Prize he won??
I mean... what's the difference between Einstein and the pastor in their scientific knowledge?
One is not any better than the other !! Then what the hell was the Nobel Prize for?
What I am trying to say is:
A scientist should stay and be stuck in the arena of scientific study.
He shouldn't be looking for God to answer his questions, or use God to explain his dilemma.

GENEVA/CHICAGO (Reuters) - The world of science was upended last year when an experiment appeared to show
one of Einstein's fundamental theories was wrong - but now the lab behind it says the result could have been caused by a loose cable.
Physicists at the CERN research institute near Geneva appeared to contradict Albert Einstein's 1905 Special Theory of Relativity last year when they reported that sub-atomic particles called neutrinos could travel fractions of a second faster than light.
Einstein's Special Theory of Relativity, which underpins the current view of how the universe works, says that nothing
can travel faster than light, and doing so would be like traveling back in time.
James Gillies, a spokesman for European Organization for Nuclear Research, or CERN, said on Wednesday the lab's
startling result was now in doubt.
Earlier on Wednesday, ScienceInsider, a website run by the American Association for the Advancement of Science,
reported that the surprising result was down to a loose fibre optic cable linking a Global Positioning System satellite
receiver to a computer.
Gillies confirmed that a flaw in the GPS system was now suspected as a possible cause for the surprising reading.
Further testing was needed before any definite conclusions could be reached, he added.
The faster-than-light finding was recorded when 15,000 neutrino beams were pumped over three years from CERN
to an underground Italian laboratory at Gran Sasso near Rome.
"A possible explanation has been found. But we won't know until we have tested it out with a new beam to Gran
Sasso," Gillies told Reuters in Geneva.
Physicists on the experiment, called OPERA, said when they reported it last September that they had checked and
rechecked over many months anything that could have produced a misreading before announcing what they had found.
A second test whose results were announced in November appeared to provide further evidence that neutrinos were
travelling faster than light. But many experts remained skeptical of a result that would have overturned one of the
fundamental principles of modern physics.
Edward Blucher, chairman of the Department of Physics at the University of Chicago, said the original finding would
have been breathtaking if it had been true. As it was, the research inspired many spirited discussions, if few believers.
"I don't think I met anyone who said I bet it's going to be true. I think the people on the experiment worked as
carefully as they could and I think they ran out of ideas of what could be wrong and they decided to present it,"
he said.
"Maybe they should have waited a few more months," he added.
Gillies said CERN would be issuing a full statement early on Thursday.

Albert Einstein made a mistake by not pursuing Mach's original idea of relativity directly.
As a 30 some year old graduate student, he decided to bet his entire life to prove that
Einstein made a mistake. He convinced himself by studying Ernst Mach's original concept of relativity.
He has produced results to convince a good number of young brilliant physcists, two of whom
were able to receive PHDs on the same subject.
I wrote a brief excerpt myself by reading the entire article, which I thought was a worthwhile news.
This was the cover story of the magazine with Einstein's picture upside down on the cover.
