The story like this reminds all Koreans of the truth that
Koreans like me owe so much to so many people like
Vice President Mike Pence's father and family.
The story certainly made me stop and think
and then made my heart say silently thanks to all those people
who fought the war on behalf of Korea.
Mike Pence was visiting Korea for the first time as VP of USA, and
his father served in Korean War and received a bronze star medal 64 years ago.
Mike was the third son of his.
For a moment let's think about what Mike was thinking of and what his feeling
is like all those hours he was flying in Air Force 2.
Reflecting on his dad on his first day in South Korea, Pence said, "I think about what Dad would be thinking about and is thinking about as he looks down -- at this third son -- to return to the place he came so many years ago and the commitment that endures here that has resulted in a free and prosperous South Korea."
