The Blue Danube Waltz The Blue Danube Waltz I recently enjoyed a Mozart and Strauss concert in Vienna while on a European river cruise. The song performed was "The Blue Danube,"written in 1866 by Johann Strauss. It was premiered by the Vienna Men's Choral Association in 1867 when the lyrics were added by the Choral Association's poet Joseph Weyl (although the lyrics were later replaced byFranz Von Gernerth). The song was a big success in the 1867 Paris World Affair and performed in the New York City in 1867 |
