Story of China"

I am sorry it was accidentally posted before I finish my writing.
Ancient histories may not be so important, but modern histories that
are related to what is happening now can be very crucial to policy makings
and diplomacy. However, history always teach us what we should do or
not do for the future generation.

What you mentioned above is a modern history of Korea and those around us.
I guess the immediate past history was what really mattered on how we are.
The poor Korea was miraculously liberated by virtue of the victory of US in World War II.
Then, unfortunately, we got divided by the far-away-powers, US and Soviet Union.
Since then, as Soviets receded away after 6.25 war,
Red China and US are the ones that are holding Korean peninsula.
In these events, I wonder why Soviet kept themselves away from Korean Peninsula.
I guess Stalin was afraid of facing the power of US and took a back seat.
By that, Stalin forever lost Korea and gave it away to Red China.
The Soviets could have controlled North Korea forever under them
but they lost it by permitting In-Sung Kim and Red China to invade South Korea.
Nobody would have known but it turned out to be Stalin's major stupid mistake.
If there was no 6.25 war, and Red China did not invade South Korea,
Russia still may be easily controlling the North Korea today as their puppet.
If they successfully controlled North Korea, it could have given them a huge advantage,
much better than the Crimean and Eastern Ukraine annexations.
Lucky or not, the China, instead of Russia, took hold of North Korea.
I hope my line of thinking may be correct.

김일성 met 52 times with Stalin and asked to invade S.Korea.
Stalin was most concerned US intervention and did not want to face
US soldiers directly. Stalin made sure that China was willing to
send troops to N. Korea if US would cross 38 parallel. China accepted
Stalins offer that China would get technological and military aid for
sending troops to N.Korea. Several months before N. Korean, Soviet
succeded in nuclear explosion. Just before nodding the head to Kim,
Soviet intelligence intercepted the telegram from US to US Moscow
embassy that US would not intervene in the event of N. Korean invasion.
Not long after Stalin's death, Armistice was signed.

It is an educational topic and contents to all of us.
It seems that United States of America and Red China will control half of Korea indefinitely as it is now.
I want to go back to the military situation from Sept 28, 1950 to Jan 4, 1951. Soon after restoration
of South Korea, the Allied Army was advancing fast and furious toward Yalu and Duman Rivers
of North Korea, but unexpectedly counterattacked by Red Chinese Army. The military situation became
rapidly deteriorating to the Allied Army, which was retreating continuously. Some allies including
Great Britain and France were becoming vocal in suggesting total withdrawal from Korean Peninsula.
Around November there was an announcement of President Harry S Truman, which I still remember
from the talk of my father. “For the sake of independence of Koreans and their descendants,
we shall not withdraw our troops from Korean Peninsula, but keep fighting these communists’ army.”
This is the great and most grateful from President Truman.
I have tried to find the statement all these years unsuccessfully. This statement literally shut the mouths
of the withdrawal proponents. The only regret was that General Douglas MacArthur wanted to win
the Chinese Army by a number of new tactics such as bombing of Manchuria, naval blockade of
Chinese coastlines, release of Chiang Kai-Shek’ army to the mainland China to fight against Red China.
However General MacArthur was fired and his grand strategy was never realized.
The consensus of posterior military scholars was that, if these tactics were applied to the Red Chinese
Army, they had no choice but to hide their tails between their two thin legs and run away toward their hideouts!
Alas! The greatest American hero couldn’t win the war not because of lack of the right plans,
but due to the weakness of American leadership under President Truman.
Once the opportunity was gone, it is gone forever, the unification of Korea.

Both video are in the length of 55 and 57 minutes.
Dr. Ohn says it's too short for the 4,000 years of past history the Great China.
However, in the modern world, the past history means nothing much.
What counts is "how they are now" in the real time of the present period.
We, Koreans, boast 5,000 years of proud (?) history.
However, despite of revolutionary and miraculous industrial leapfrogging success
in the modern times, their people are still nothing but a group of uncivilized "엽전s".
Egypt equally is proud of more than 5,000 years of brilliant civilization
but they are one of the poorest countries of the world. You know if you visited Egypt lately.
The Mayas and Incas can be mighty proud of their heritage, but they hardly exist today.
So to me, the past history is nothing to be proud or to be counted about.
It is rather nothing but a liability of shame in most cases.
Yes, it may be only good for spectacular video (or movie) productions.
In this new world, what counts is how and what one is.
