If not this time, someday I will be able to travel North Korea freely.

"살아라, 살아라 하면 빨리 죽고
죽어라 죽어라 하면 오히려 더 오래산다" 하니
Like Trump had said, let's pray for him to be "alive".
We are getting desperate!! We've been waiting for 70 damn years.

The Japanese version seems to be pretty realistic.
Even though I don't see any difference in 1 minute vs, 8-minute operating time in the coronary stent.
However, it does not sound like a piece of stupid rumor.

I believe, WM, the Japanese meant the time limit for restoring
the circulation to the brain to prevent anoxic encephalopathy
in cases of cardiac arrests, which is about 5 minutes.
You have to resuscitate successfully and restore brain circulation
within 5 minutes, otherwise, the patient will suffer permanent brain damage,
anoxic encephalopathy, which I witnessed so many times in my career.
Assuming Kim was in cardiac arrest, usually due to sudden onset ventricular fibrillation,
then you have 5 minutes to save him. We will do CPR and administer DC electric shock
to restore the rhythm and BP. But it took the medical team 8 minutes so that Kim remained unconscious
because of anoxic encephalopathy. In the hospital or cardiac cath lab where I worked 30 some years,
we can frequently do that in less than 1 minute by simply giving immediate DC shocks.
As a matter of fact, many times while I was doing coronary angiography, the patient would develop VF,
I then purposely wait instead of giving immediate DC shock until the patient passes out, which takes about 30 seconds,
then administer DC shock. I always let the patient know calmly he is going to pass out.
This way the patient does not experience the discomfort from the shock.
There is no way any expert cardiologist to do coronary stenting in one minute,
not even 8 minutes. The fastest time assuming everything goes as planned,
the so-called "door to balloon time" will be 30-45 minutes, more than likely 1 to 2 hours.
2020.04.25 04:23
I would consider 3 minutes as the maximum when the unilateral clamping of the carotid arteries
during an endarterectomy. After exposing the carotid artery, by visual and tactile inspection,
I generally knew how long it would take to finish the job.
The 5-minute threshold may be OK if there's enough collateral circulation from the other side.
If it looks like more than 3 minutes, I would plan something else (inserting a bypass tube) to avoid it.
But during the coronary stenting (or similar percutaneous approach), you don't stop brain circulation.
So, this 1-minute and the 8-minute story are strange to me. After all, this is just a newspaper story anyway.
In my old days (during my time, ) the ideal "door to balloon" time was 90 minutes in severe STEMI cases.
I've never done this myself though (the percutaneous approach was out of my specialty).
