Coolie
The coolie-slave trade run by American captains and local agents and mainly consisting of debt slavery was called the 'pig trade' as the living conditions were not dissimilar to that of livestock; on some vessels as many as 40 percent of the coolies died en route.[32] As many as 500 were crammed into a single ship hold, leaving no room to move. Some of these were Chinese women kidnapped to be sex slaves under the demand of American and Caribbean plantation owners. The recruited laborers were required to pay for their ship fares from meager earnings which were frequently below living expenses, forcing them into virtual slavery.[32] The coolies were also stamped on their backs like livestock. Foreign merchants took advantage of the unequal treaties negotiated between the Qing government and Western powers after the Opium Wars, as well as the resulting political and economic instability, to broker deals for "contracted" workers. Portuguese Macao was the center of this trade: coolie slavery was described as "the only real business" in Macao from 1848 to 1873, generating enormous profits for the Portuguese until it was banned due to pressure from the British government.[33]
If you look back 19th century China, human right violation of the current Chinese
government is minuscule to what western powers did to Chinese people then.
British forced China to legalize opium in China by the War. And the humiliation followed.
The history of coolies is just a small portion of it.

The only nice guy to China was Russians. The 2nd opium war that was carried out
by France and UK almost ended the Qing dynasty. But Russia mediated Peking
convention in 1860. Even though Qing had to accept all inquiries asked by
western powers, Qing dynasty survived. In return Russia got 연해주.
After Qing lost the war against Japan in 1895, Qing had to give up Korea, 요동 반도 and Taiwan
to Japan according to Nagasaki treaty. Russia got involved in 6 days after the treaty signed
along with Germany and France(Tripple interference). Japan had to return 요동반도 to Qing.
Russia took over Manchuria from Japan toward the end of world
war II(pacific War) by defeating 관동군. And Stalin did not give it back to 장개석 but
모택동. It was a big boost for Chinese communists.
Xi Jinping seems to be equally crazy and idiotic like Donald Trump.
I don't know how the world ended up with two moronic SOBs at the same time.
