"미군 없으면 한국도 제2의 아프간 될 것"
I got this website: https://youtu.be/s06BWA2RmNs from my friend this morning; it seems to be a bit long but every word touched my heart sharing his concerns. I am so sad that I am not the only person who concerns with the fate of SK when they should lose, God forbids, American protection like Afghanistan but apparently not.

The truth is a 'FREE' money inevitably results in the corruption with no exceptions we saw throughout the history!
Two trillion dollars of our tax money the U.S. poured into Afghanistan through the last twenty year period was more than enough to cause such immense corruption! Simply enough!

I am not sure... I have a different thought about the above.
What has happened in Afghanistan is a typical example of how the U.S. finishes
the business "Unfinished" all over the world. In a Korean phrase, "하다 말기".
Korean War was another good example where the U.S. ended with "Unfinished Business."
They always say it was because the people at home were tired of the war.
So was the Vietnam War and all other similar incidences over the world.
The moral of the story is "Not to help the U.S. in a war",
otherwise, you may be the "Kabul 활주로에 남아서 떠나가는 비행기 쳐다만 보고있는 오리 알".
The U.S. makes a grand glamorous start but always ends with a snake's tail, an "Unfinished Business".
Now, think about another war "in the 21st century" in the Korean Peninsula.
And think about the U.S. military helping the South Korean army in a war
against the North Korean and Chinese armies.
Will it end with a "Unification" or another armistice? The latter is most likely to happen again.
The American participation in a Korean event may end up to be another "Unfinished Job".
I would not count too much on the U.S. help.
For the U.S., "style and image" is more important than the "final outcome".
Can't you see that in Afghanistan? Something to seriously think about...
Has the American military in South Korea been a blessing or a curse?

Korean War is the proxy war. The hosts of the war are China and the U.S.
And it has not ended. It was fought in Korea and Koreans shot each other
for them. The armistice was basically signed between China and the U.S.
According to the armistice, U.S. troops should have been out of SK
because each side agreed to the withdrawal of their troops from Korean
peninsula. If U.S. gave SK 2 trillion dollars and built the SK army and left
SK just like in Afghanistan at some point after the war,
what would have happened in Korea? I do not know, but she wouldn't be
today's Afghanistan. Regardless, U.S. troops stayed violating the Armistice.
I see the resemblance with today's Afghanistan in Korea 1949-1950 at
the beginning of the Korean War. On June 27, 1949, U.S. troops left SK.
A year later on June 25, 1950, NK invaded SK, and near 100,000 Korean troops
collapsed in 3 days. I mean the entire nation's army was decimated. Korean
War was fought by the U.S. Korean Army was simply one of US army. Why?
Before the war, the US did not know the strategic importance of the Korean Peninsula for
US national interest. But Truman administration acknowledged Korea as the foothold
for the enemies in the continent. The US has to defend Japan against China and Soviets.
Japan is at the forefront of the defense of the Pacific Ocean. But Japan is not connected
to the continent by land. The US wanted to have the land base in SK. So the US has to secure
SK for the defense of Japan. Therefore, they had to secure the Pacific Ocean
and the US Pacific coast against China and Soviets.
When Soviets melted away and China softened up with the US, the strategic value of SK
became less important. But fortunately, China emerged as the rivalry of US and
SK became even more important strategically to the US. US troops in SK will not leave
even if SK wants them to leave. They will leave when the US can not find any
strategic value in it. SK must defend herself in the end.
Remember the foreign troops are there to control a nation for them!

I am NOT sure US troops in SK will not and cannot leave SK even if SK wants them to leave, Dr. Ohn, because SK became even more important strategically to the US now as you claim.
It is easy to say SK must defend herself in the end and they are already capable as many Koreans believe. Apparently the objective and repeated appraisals by the CIA and Research Institutes failed to prove it. After all, it will be totally up to the moral/will power of SK peoples against NK-Kim Dynasty they adore!

Unification? For what? Why they bother, Steve? No way, doc!
It ain’t gonna work as Koreans wish, either in SK or NK!
