Notice RE: Website update and possible website malfunction

There is going to be a software update at our website.
As it did before, this can create temporary problem at our website
after the night of 10-25-2012 (So, in the morning of 10-26-2012).
If something happens, please realize that the update by the website hosting company (Surpasshosting.com) might have caused the problem.
Please be patient. I will try to correct the situation ASAP.
In case something undesirable happens, it may take a few days to correct the situation.

Dear Webmaster,

As part of our commitment to provide quality web hosting services, we are contacting you today in regards to some upgrades that will be taking place on your server [bacon.surpasshosting.com] week after next. Please read the details below carefully to ensure that you take all precautions to avoid any issues with your services:

Scheduled Date and Time:
Thursday, October 25, 2012 at 20:00 (10 PM) EDT

Maintenance Window: 4 hours (only 30 minutes of interruption)

Datacenter Location: Orlando – DC2

Maintenance Type:

In order to keep everything on your server up to date and secure we will be performing the following updates and changes:

- Apache will be upgraded to the newest version in the 2.2 branch (This should be seamless and cause no extended issues to your site(s)
- PHP will be upgraded to the newest version in the 5.3 branch (In doing this we will no longer support PHP4. To avoid issues to your site(s) we recommend making sure that all software you have installed is in fact updated to be compatible with PHP 5.3. In doing this you will minimize the chance of any issues arising. We will be taking care of modifying all handlers for you to ensure that the updated PHP version is used.
- Support for Microsoft FrontPage server-side extensions will be removed. We recommend that you plan accordingly to ensure that you get accustomed to using alternate mediums such as FTP or sFTP as well as making sure you remove all extensions from your site(s).
- If you have a script encoded with Zend Optimizer, as it is not supported in versions 5.3 or later of PHP, you will need to do one of two things ensure you have no issues. One would be to ask the the makers of your script for a version that is encoded with Zend Guard as this would have no issues. The second thing you could do would be to ask the makers of your script for a version that is encoded with IonCube as that is still being supported by versions of PHP 5.3 and later.

Estimated Downtime:
We understand the importance of minimal downtime when performing maintenance on your server and for that reason we will do everything we can to ensure that the procedure is expedited. There is currently a 4 hour maintenance window and while your server will be online during this procedure, you would only experience around 30 minutes of interruptions while PHP is upgraded.
