Sports LPGA KIA Classic at La Costa Resort

 LPGA KIA Classic 2012 at La Costa Resort and Spa, Carlsbad, CA March 25, 2012 at the final round On Sunday in the Kia Classic, Yani Tseng closed with a 2-under 70 for a six-stroke victory. She finished at 14-under 274 on La Costa’s Legends Course. South Korea’s Sun Young Yoo had a 71 to finish second. Shanshan Feng shot a 67, the best round of the day, to tie for third with South Korea’s Jiyai Shin at 7 under. Shin had a 74. Seri Pak ended at 7th place tie.  Throughout the entire day, Yani was invincible. No one can do anything about it. While her competitors seemed to have been shaken by the wind, she kept her play under control, widening the lead as she was approaching the last hole. Two Korean players couldn't do anything against her today. In the middle of the back nine, it seemed that the game was over. For us, it was disappointing. We hoped that Jiyai Shin and Sun-Young Yoo weren't too much disappointed. We knew that they did their best. It wasn't their day, something out of their control. Our best wishes for their success in Nabisco-Kraft Championship in the next week.  At the entrance to the club house along the walkway of the resort hotel  As always California is full of fresh flowers at any time of the year  The golf course seen through the back door of the clubhouse lounge  At the back porch of the clubhouse  Practice putting green. Visible in the center is a Korean flag among others.  At the 9th hole green, we met the threesome of Meena Lee (blue), Ai Miyazato, and Karrie Webb (black)  Two teams later, the final group of Yani Tseng, Jiyai Shin, Sun-Young Yoo walked up the 9th fairway. Sunyoung Yoo (in gray top) and Jiyai Shin (in black top) are talking together as they approached their ball. Here, Shin hit 260 yard-tee shot, while Yoo hit an amazing 300 yard-tee shot. I have no idea where such distance comes from her small slender body. I took a few swing videos secretly. I will upload here when I finish editing of them.  At the right end, Sun-Young Yoo just hit her tee shot and stay in a beautiful finished form while Yani Tseng (in pink top) and Jiyai Shin (in black top) are intensely watching Yoo's ball flight. To our surprise, Jiyai shin dyed her hair in blonde color !!  I always imagined that La Costa must be in a "spick and span" shape. But it wasn't. It wasn't much better than a decent public golf course in southern California.  The presence of KIA auto company is visible all over the place. They are the sponser of this tournament.  The grand grass stand looking down the 1st, 9th, 10th, and 18th holes with the clubhouse behind. As the four-day tournament is over the grass field appeared tired.   Somewhat disappointed in the final results and tired in spirits (yes, we have been spoiled too much), our foursome is walking back to the parking lot, heading for home. There is always tomorrow. |
이번에도 한인 낭자들이 Yani의 둘러리가 되어 섭섭하네요.
아직까지는 Yani Tseng이라는 super star를 해결할 방법이 없는듯 하네요.
원래의 장타에다가 short game 까지 정교해졌고 무었보다도 그녀의 당당한
자신감이 한창때의 Tiger Woods를 방불케 하네요.
La Costa course는 년전에 KMA convention으로 몇번 쳐본 기억이 있습니다.
