Dear esteemed SNUCM alumni,

                                      September 13,2011

Many thanks to the two hundred of you who have already registered for the cruise.
We are all looking forward to this great alumni event and the quality time we will spend together with both old and new friends.
For those of you who have not yet registered, you can still join us by making individual registrations with the same travel agency.
Please do so sooner than later, as rooms are filling up quickly.

The convention will be held at the outstanding Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress luxury resort in Orlando from Friday, January 20, until Sunday morning, January 22. The resort features 45 holes of a Jack Nicklaus designed premier golf course at the special rate of $95 for members of our group, a 21-acre private lake, a spectacular swimming pool, as well as many other on-site activities (http://grandcypress.hyatt.com/).
Those of us who will be embarking on the cruise will be transported by bus to Port Canaveral after the convention.
Others with different post-convention plans may choose to continue with their stay and/or golfing at the resort.

While we have many who are committed to this organization, as demonstrated by the number of people participating in the upcoming convention and cruise,
our organization is at a crossroads.
Currently, we have only a very limited number of younger alumni who are participating and both contributing and benefitting from alumni activities
(see the attached table, which has the statistics for our alumni in the United States and organizes them by class and work status).
We need everyone’s support to encourage other alumni to be actively involved in the activities—including the convention—and governance of our organization, and we invite our relatively younger alumni to become the future leaders of this esteemed organization.

Certainly, having a strong turnout at the convention will be instrumental to sustaining the robustness of our organization for both the present and the years to come, and to encouraging your current leadership to drive for the another time-cosuming project for new 2012 Member Directory.

Based on the statistics in the table attached, some people has raised the concern that our organization would not be able to host such activities as the alumni convention sometime in the future. While that is not a foregone conclusion, it makes it even more incumbent that we all take advantage of the opportunity of attending this year's alumni convention.

For those members who have had reservations about the convention and past alumni activities, we also invite you to participate in the convention and be a part of shaping the future of this organization. Our alumni events are for the benefit of our members, so we urge all members to work towards this goal.

Specifically for the convention, we have tried to make participation easier by making the registration fee as low as possible.
At present, I can assure you that it will cost, at most, $150 to $200 (and it will be less for alumni from the class 1959 or earlier).
Hosting a convention, however, does require significant financial resources. That's where each and every one of us comes in.
I want to reiterate the need for each and every one of you to seriously consider attending the convention.
Moreover, by having a larger group, all of the programs, including but not limited to CME/Non-CME/golfing, can be held at the same time,
so that participants have a number of programs to choose from.

Let’s continue to encourage members to join us for our convention in order to rekindle old friendships, make new acquaintances, enjoy special events, continue lifelong learning, and maintain important connections with each other and our alma mater. This will be an incredible event, and I hope to see many of you in January.

Please stay tuned for further updates on the convention and cruise by e-mail and/or Sigetop.

Looking forward to earning your continued support and participation.
