Father Belczak's Remarks on Easter, Jesus Resurrection"
"...There are two ways of muting the Easter message.
The first is simply to deny it.
The Jesus story then becomes the tale of a good man
savagely crucified to death by Rome and a small group of
Jewish collaborators.
There was no empty tomb, no risen Christ.
It could not happen; therefore, it did not happen.
A more insiduous way of muting the Easter story
is to sentimentalize it.
Easter becomes a "Spring Festival," celebrating
a winterworld coming to life once more.
Easter then becomes a springtime feast. ...
.......
....When Jesus rose from the dead, he did return to
his friends and their world.
He ate supper with them and picnicked with them
on the seashore in Galilee.
But this risen life of his was not "more of the same."
He had entered upon a new life,
one that could no longer be touched by death.
More importantly, this new life of his was not simply
a personal triumph but one he would share fully with
them, his friends.
Now a whole new age was underway for a confused
and troubled world.
The world would go on but it would never be the same.
Christ is alive and he is with us, as he promised,
'until the end of time.' "

What is tantalizing is the the fact that the physicists as a group
are saying that the second or the third level universe can be
right next to you and that those extra dimensions are not faraway
from our universe. One of them used the analogy where a person
on a boat see the world under the water in ocean but the fish
in the ocean is oblivious to the person on a boat.
The risen Jesus was eating with his disciples at the picnic table,
but he is in different universe, the second or the third, who knows,
but definitely in different world, yet he can appear before his disciples.
Not only that, he can appear at two or three different places
at the same time.
What is most amazing is that the theoretical physicists are now saying
that this is possible based on quantum physics, Heisenberg's
uncertainty principle, etc.
According to Lee Strobel's books I read, over 90% of all scientists
believe in God, most of whom have become Christians.
Francis Collins, PhD, who wrote the best seller book, "The Language
of God," Director of Human Genome Project and successfully
completed human gene sequencing became a Christian in 1970's
although he was raised by liberal intellectual parents of Ivy League
with no religion. His honest description of his spiritual journey and
how he became a (Catholic) Christian played a significant role for my conversion
after the series of books by Lee Strobel, who too was an atheist and
a lawyer, who started the series to prove that there is no living God
in this world, then wound up becoming a Christian.
Lee Strobel describes why he took two years off to prove there was no God.
He had to do it because of his wife who was a devout Christian.
Their marriage was deteriorating threateningly so he decided to prove to her,
himself and the world there was no God, no ressurection of Jesus, etc.
His experience and series of books have converted numerous atheists to Christ.
I must say that I owe these two gentlemen quite a bit besides my wife
who was well ahead of me in that endeavor.
In my experience, there are two spiritual journeys one has to take
before one, a modern man or woman or an intellectual, becomes
an authentic Christian, not a cultural Christian.
One is to become a theist, not atheist, i.e. believing in Creator, God.
Most modern men and woman are comfortable at this stage.
I was one of them for some 4 decades.
The next journey will require a conscious effort to learn about Jesus
and eventually to accept HIM as Son of God and to be able to believe
the resurrection and the bible, etc.
The second journey is an arduous and strenuous one
without a doubt for the rest of one's life and beyond.

There is a belief among some neuroscientists that indeed our Creator put
in a sort of neuropathway in our brain cortex via which we creatures can find a way back
to HIM, our home. This story was highlighted in Readers Digest some years back, a copy of which
was given to me by a friend. It is an interesting concept.
When I returned to Christianity in all honesty and sincerity after years' of soul searching,
I wrote the following poem which appeared on this space at that time.
Dream By a Creature
I dream of a dream, an impossible dream,
day and night,
night and day.
I dream of a dream, a beautiful dream,
day and night,
night and day.
A dream, an impossible dream, a beautiful dream,
day and night,
night and day.
The dream that I find the passageway
to my Creator,
all loving, all merciful, all forgiving.
The dream that I find the secret pathway to HIM,
hidden deeply in my soul.
The dream that I find the bright light
through HIS son, to the pathway to HIM.
Before it's too late.
Before the last day on Earth.

and remarks by each of the physicists who are at the cutting edge of the endeavor.
They are the minds like that of Albert Einstein who have helped us expand
our consciousness and discovery of the mysteries of our Creator.
Although I've been following as closely as I can with my limited background
what they've been saying by reading their books and all,
this particular presentation was indeed inspiring, particulary after attending
a funeral service of an irish lady who lived to be 87, has 7 children, 19 grand children
and 6 great grandchildren, whose faith in God and Jesus was always so strong that
every child was brought up in that faith and was successful in every true sense.
Compared to her faith, I felt mine is so little and insignificant.
I couldn't help writing the above text out of my child-like wonder about everything around me
and others in this universe after a heavy dose of stimulation and inspiration.
