Why not saying "So, it is your fault.", Dr. Ohn?
That was what I told THEM straight with no reservation while I was in Korea through the era of '90,
although I knew THEY hated my such blunt comment.
Because that is the fact, no matter what they rationalize with!
Do you know what they reacted with to my comment? THEY say you have no right to criticize us
since you abandoned the country. Of course, I reacted back saying that's the reason
why I say "it is YOUR faults" than OUR faults.
Especially, they resented me serving as the surgeon in charge to POTUS when he (Clinton and Bush, both)
should come to the Far East till I left Seoul to come back to home/U.S. - I did not volunteer but was drafted
as a USUHS faculty/Walter Reed team -. Indeed, the Director of the Hospital, Dr. Ha told me
that one Korean newspaper guy wrote to Samsung 비서실, criticizing me as 미국놈 앞잡이.
I shot back to Dr. Ha, saying I am NOT a 미국놈 앞잡이 but 미국놈 with the obligation to support the U.S.
where I belong to, as its citizen. And I started to call THEM as well as myself as 조선놈 altogether
as my father called ourselves all along, without reservation -since I do NOT have Korean citizenship
they demanded to give up/abdicate when I got back to Korea to work for Samsung Hospital in 1994-.
So I learned THEY consider anyone who abandoned/does not have Korean citizenship is unpatriotic(?)
and has NO RIGHT to give a comment on this issue! How about that, Dr. Ohn?
Humiliated,
BB Lee

Internationally North Korea does not use 조선. The official name is "Democratic People's
Republic of Kore(DPRK)". The establishment of Chosun; Royal family and 양반 used
dependency on China as their survival tactic and existence of Chosun as a nation.
The welfare of people was second to their well being. I wonder why Kim dynasty did not discard Chosun.
It is the same nation as Chosun that caused hardships of people then and now. I see the sufferings of
people then in the sufferings of people in 조선 민주주의 인민공화국.

"Is Korea ever be united?" I have encountered many people in America asking this question.
Of course, they are not serious about it. Often times it might have been just to avoid awkwardness
coming from silence when people meet. But to me, it is quite annoying. Sometimes upsetting.
The division was not what Koreans wanted, but Soviets and Americans decided to ignore Koreans'
desire. The Korean peninsula was treated as part of Japan who lost the Pacific War.
I told them about it. I could not say "So, it is your fault.". No matter what I say to them, the same person often
repeat the same question. Once, twice, three times. My answer became " I do not know".
Nobody cares about Korean unification as much as Koreans do. No matter how difficult it is, Koreans must not
give up to be united. It is your destiny, honey!
