Until 1986, it was known as the Golden Globe Award for Best Foreign Film, meaning
that any non-American film could be honored. In 1987, it was changed to Best Foreign
Language Film, so that non-American English-language films are now considered
for the Best Motion Picture awards.
Additionally, this change makes American films primarily in another language eligible for this award,
including winners like Letters from Iwo Jima and nominees Apocalypto, The Kite.

Doc, nothing to be sorry about. Now, I have understood. Thanks.
Then, the whole thing brings me something much deeper than what I thought initially.
It goes like the following...
The Minari was actually as good a movie as to be eligible for the regular "Golden Glove Best Movie." However, because of the language it has, it got flunked and sent to the "Best Foreign Movie" category. Anyhow, we are very happy that it had gotten the Best Movie Award.
Then in a second thought, hey, why didn't the movie join the main regular award?
What the hell is wrong with the Korean language in a movie, a form of art, and in America?
In a movie article, there was a "dispute" about the Minari having gotten the "Best Foreign Movie".
Further search, I found this phrase below:
In December, Lulu Wang, director of Awkwafina's The Farewell — which was also ineligible
for Best Picture consideration at last year's Golden Globes — joined a chorus of critics
slamming the HFPA's eligibility requirements preventing movies like Minari from competing
for Best Picture.
"I have not seen a more American film than #Minari this year," Wang tweeted.
"It's a story about an immigrant family, IN America, pursuing the American dream. We really
need to change these antiquated rules that characterizes American as only English-speaking."
Here, I agree with Lulu Wang. It may be the first time I ended up agreeing with a Chinese.
We, including the Minari production staff and actors, are Korean-Americans.
We might have been foreigners one time but not any more NOW!! So is the Korean language.
We are fully qualified citizens of the US. Especially, in the field of art, we should be free
to use any language we choose. Was there discrimination due to the language in the movie?
I wish the movie, Minari, should have gotten (or at least eligible to) the main regular
Golden Glove Award. What the hell, why not?
How long are we going to belong to the damn "Foreign" category?
Aren't we a fully eligible part of mainstream America?
You guys, wanna join me for a DEMO in L.A.? ㅎ, ㅎ, ㅎ.

What makes me mad is that the movie staff were Americans but they were Korean Americans.
I guess that was the problem with HFPA, the same thing Wang complained about.
The language might have been an excuse in disguise to avoid a charge of racial discrimination.
See, the foreigners got discriminated "silently" by way of the foreign language.
PS: I have not seen the movie yet. But my wife has seen it. It's available in youtube.
From the information I heard, the movie may be a good one to show to my grandchildren.
It shows what the first-generation immigrants had gone through in the new world.
I wish someone puts up a review on Minari on our website.
I've heard that, occasionally, there are fields of wild edible minari patches in America.
