What a remarkable story behind the Korea's war against COVID-19!
Some 30 countries including Italy and Germany are buying the test kits
from South Korea, which is indeed impressive.

NEW YORK – Seegene has received emergency use approval from the Korea Ministry of Food and Drug Safety for an assay to detect the novel coronavirus 2019-nCoV, also known as SARS-CoV-2, which causes coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). The real-time PCR-based test has also received CE-IVD mark and is now commercially available.
Seegene's test, called the Allplex 2019-nCoV Assay, is a single-tube assay that identifies three different target genes — E, RdRP, and N — based on the international recommended protocols provided by World Health Organization.
"We are pleased to report KFDA approval of our COVID-19 assay and are ready to support global healthcare organizations in need of our diagnostic solution," Jong-Yoon Chun, CEO and founder of Seegene, said in a statement.
A simultaneous test in a single tube, compared to existing multi-tube assays, improves workflow efficiency and maximizes throughput for a high-volume test while minimizing test cost, according to Seegene.
The test runs using Seegene's automated system and analysis software, providing test results in four hours. The system also runs the firm's high multiplex respiratory assay portfolio that screens and identifies 19 respiratory viruses and seven pneumonia bacteria with similar symptoms to COVID-19.
Seegene has the capability to manufacture 100,000 COVID-19 tests per day, the firm said.

The story of SeeGene is really remarkable. FDA rejected the kits made by SeeGene.
I am almost shocked by how fast America has been falling behind. Now, I fully
understood how Korea could do the testing so efficiently. However, Trump's
America is far from paying attention to it. He is making America terrible!
Thank you, Dr. Lee!

Thank you, Dr. Ohn, for your comment.
Each test kit by Seegene cost $20.
FDA went for Roche's, and major hospitals including
Mayo Clinic, Cleveland Clinic, University of Washington Hospital,
Quest Diagnostics, etc., are developing their own test kits
with the official permission by FDA which will certainly cost hundreds of dollars
and will have to be paid for by Medicare and the private insurance companies.
I got an email from Quest Diagnostics yesterday which my wife and I use for our blood tests
over the years, saying, " Do not go to Quest Diagnostics for covid-19 test,
instead go to Family Health Center in your city."
The Family Health Center in San Juan Capistrano they want us to go to
turned out to be outpatient clinic
by Kaiser Permanente which has contract with Quest Diagnostics.
Basically anyone who wants the test has to be screened by a family doc, who then
will order the test if indicated, like any other medical problems.
Obviously there may not be Drive in test tents in the parking lots across America
any time soon.

Story of good doctors, nurses and citizens all Koreans should be proud of,
which made me tearful.

South Korea could have done much better without some of those dubious Christian churches.
They demanded their people come for their meeting despite government direction against it.
Emptying the pocket of their members was their primary goal.
Why do they allow those churches to prosper?
This story should make all Koreans proud.
I saw on TV yesterday that multiple countries have sent their teams
to South Korea to learn all the things Koreans are doing to control
and defeat the coronavirus so that they can protect their people.
It appears South Korea is most advanced in the world right now in dealing with
this virus effectively.
I couldn't help feeling so proud of our country.
Somebody in the above article said the USA should learn from South Korea, I believe.
It seems SK is more developed than the USA in many areas.
Bravo! South Korea.
