It certainly is encouraging, Dr. Lee.
Now I am on standby- I filled up the form the Hospital requested yesterday!- though I don't know when it will be my turn to get it. Wish to have an option to choose the better(?) one though being delayed, but when they call, I have to take whatever the stuff they would provide.
But the problem I am not quite convincing is whether this vaccine could prevent the infection 100% regardless of the virus mutation through the year and also worry how long it could give protection. Indeed, I am holding the first trip next year to Buenos Aires in September but definitely plan to start my out of town trip officially in November next year to New York and then to Dubai in January 2021. So crossing my fingers, hope for the best!

Yep, I was called in this afternoon to schedule the shot for next week so that I am going to have one Tuesday morning, finally!!!!!
But I kind of having a mixed feeling to be honored(?) to get the shot with priority as the oldest staff of the GW Hospital.
I will let you know the outcome.

Congratulations! Professor.
It is a nice Christmas gift for you.
wish you all the best.

The trouble, however, is I used the Metro subway to get to Downtown GW Hospital through years since its station/Foggy Bottom is right under the Hospital till this COVID crisis- so that it is so convenient to use the Metro. But through this year after COVID crisis started, I rarely go to downtown office but when needed other staffs at our satellite office gave me a ride.
Now I have to find the way to get to the downtown hospital by myself but feel uneasy to use the Metro subway though it is so convenient. Driving and parking is such hastle in crowded downtown I hate most.
Worrying,

No need for worrying, Professor.
If I were you, I would consider finding a reliable, safe taxi service and
hire one for 2-3 hrs with generous tip. I know there are many Koreans living there.
Some Korean taxicab services here in CA provide excellent services so you may
check it out.

Congratulations for being vaccinated so soon, which will make you protected from Corona.
As Dr. 이 mentioned, you must use a reliable taxi cab.
In New York City, Korean taxicab service is great, clean, conscientious and honest.
Please try them if available.

I don't know whether I should be glad or sad for this opportunity- the vaccine will be delivered 5:00 AM tomorrow, Monday and they offered me anytime from 7:00 am tomorrow - perhaps due to my age, oldest faculty member?- but I chose Tuesday since I do have an office business at 10:00 am tomorrow as usual.
Anyhow, thanks for the advice!
One of the admin staffs at our satellite office might take me to downtown hospital Tuesday morning so that I will have to talk to her tomorrow.
Otherwise either Uber or cab- I am not familiar with Korean taxi- I might have to use, as you suggested.
Will see.

Got the first shot/vaccine this morning- I presume they gave the priority to me among the surgery staffs based on my age!- and released after 15 minute observation(?). The second shot will be 2 weeks later on Jan 6. But it doesn't seem to give much impact on my life yet and I still would need to remain with current life style!

Congratulations!
You should take a great pride in being the first among us to get the shot
about the same time Dr. Anthony Fauci and other elderly big shots got.
You must be a big shot.
Let us know when you get your second shot too.
presume you got Pfizer vaccine.
2020.12.22 20:35
No, no, no, Dr. Lee, I happened to be one of oldest surgeons still hung around to scare the people so that they called me in earlier than others to make sure they wouldn't get blamed if I should get infected, no more no less. Yes, it was a Pfizer vaccine.
On way out after the shot, I stopped over at the infectious disease department and had a chance to talk with them about the efficacy of this vaccine and disappointed to learn they don't know how long it will be effective.

It seems Moderna vaccine may be more acceptable and
may we'll be the one we seniors will receive at the local pharmacy.
The sooner, the better.
