It is very interesting to note that the possible mechanism for the beneficial effect
is by modifying gut bacteria that will decrease inflammation of neurons as demonstrated
in mice. There are some serious questions about the reliability of the Chinese researchers.
Nonetheless there appears to be something new to consider for the treatment of Alzheimer's
for a change. Hopefully we will hear more positive news about it in the future.

Dr. Lee
It shouldn't be a new theory if I know correct, because, I heard a such strange similar claim: 'bowel/intestinal flora controls brain', way back in '90, over the dinner table I organized to honor Prof Stig Bengmark of Lund Univ, world leading hepatobiliary surgeon, then -heard lately from his student at Malmo told me he is still actively engaged in the campaign for dietary regimen despite he is over age of 90- when Korean Society of HepatoBiliary Surgery organized its world congress in Seoul. He further insisted the hidden value of Korean kimchi as the natural source of lactobacillus which is a critical leader of enterogastric bacteria group for the equilibrium (?) between'enteral system and brain system. He used very strange terms I wasn't familiar with so that I couldn't figure it out clearly but as the host I made very superficial reaction as a courtesy but I felt he was crazy.
But soon later I correctly understood such strange claim on the reversed role of the gut on the 'brain - digestive system axis' against conventional concept we have.
So I wish someone who has some updated knowledge on this specific issue to share with us. Indeed, it is fascinating to hear further claims that the human being exists as a mere part of homeostasis with the rest of owners namely 'gut flora's to providing human body as the base(?). And they are the major player as the owner of human body. Believe it?
Will remain,
BB Lee

Thank you very much, 선배님, for your valuable comment.
Gut flora has been linked to mental health in the past
as noted in the story below.
