꽤  오래간만에  안부를 드리게 되었네요.

우선   몇달 동안  좀 바빴고,  짧은 computer  skill로 여기에  글 올리기에 는 마음의 여유가  없었다고 하겠읍니다.  

이 일을 맡은지  4년이  넘어가며 느꼈던 것이  International Health Care,Medical Tourism이란  분야에  많은 한국 병원들이 돈 벌 생각으로 뛰어 들었다는 생각을 지울 수 없었고, 한국 실정에 국제적/서구적  Standard 에 맞는 의료를 제공한다는 것이 얼마나 힘든  일이라는 점을  많은 분 들은 미루어 짐작하실 것입니다.  

언어, 문화적  배경이 다른 세계  각국의 환자들을  제대로 진료하기에는 한국은 물론 미국의  일류 의료기관도 머나먼  여러 나라로 부터의환자를  제대로 치료하기에  필요한  문화적  이해도,  infrastructure , 연구 자료도 별로 없는 현실이지요.

몇년  전에  이런 점 들을 보완하기 위해서  국제 진료  program 의 International Accreditation을 주는 미국  기관이 생겨 ,  이번에  국제 인증을 받을 준비에 정신을 쓰느라  한  1년 정신없이 보냈다고  하겠읍니다.   

Voluntary Project 이니 이 나이에  몇만 불 씩 예산 쓰고 밑에 직원들 들들 볶아가며 지난 1년 고생—몇 번씩  후회 와  자기학대  도착(masochistic)의  1 년 세월을 보낸 셈이지요.  

미국 에서 예비 조사단 오고 지난 달에  실사 팀와서 조사하고 드디어  지난달 한국 의료기관 으로서는 처음으로   International Health Program 의 “국제 인증”을  받았고, 지난 주에 추가로 보완할 계획서 보내고 나니  이제 숨 좀 돌리게 되었고,  이 Paperless Hospital의 쓰레기  더미  같았던 나의 사무실 청소, 그동안  생겼던  수 많은 서류, 종이들 SHREDDER로 없애는 데만 한시간  쯤 걸렸을 듯 합니다

Achieves Global Healthcare Accreditation

To Our Colleagues in International Healthcare

The International Health Care Center of Seoul National University Bundang Hospital is pleased to announce the news of obtaining the Global Healthcare Accreditation. We are the first hospital with such title in Korea, validating our clinical expertise and joining the prestigious group of institutions of global healthcare like the Cleveland Clinic in USA and Bumrungrad International Hospital in Thailand.

Korea has seen a substantial growth in the medical tourism in recent years. In spite of global phenomenon of medical tourism and its exponential growth worldwide, most of medical institutions in developed countries who are considered global leaders for healthcare, have lacked in their efforts to serve the medical travelers from different ethnic, socioeconomic, and cultural background, through organized activities and researches to improve quality of medical care in this area.

The International Health Care Center of Seoul National University Bundang Hospital, carrying 140 years’ tradition of the medical school, established as the central organization of Korean healthcare, has been committed to provide the best medical care for international patients through process-standardization and analyzing our performance data. Through these efforts over the years, we felt that there is a strong need for us to be accreditated, pursuant to modern standards established by a leading international accreditation organization. Sharing same beliefs and philosophy, GHA (Global Health Accreditation), organized by former  members of JCI(Joint Commission International), has been the leading accreditation organization in the global health care sector over the years, and many reputable institutions have been accreditated.

In preparation for accreditation, the entire organization worked together to develop and implement patient-safety policies, practices, and procedures that were required to meet international standards.

With Global Health Accreditation, we are excited to lead the future of medical travel in Korea to become one of the top destination for medical travelers seeking high quality healthcare services. 매년 하듯 추수 감사절에  아이들  모이니 , 어제  시카고  도착 --한 열흘 집에 와 있읍니다.  늘  “눈에  밟히던”  꼬마들 ---오늘  저녁 부터  집안이  좀 시끄러워 지겠요.

또  1 년 세월이 훌쩍 지나  갑니다.피천득 선생의  “인연”에  보면   한참 만에 만난 일본인 여자 친구?와  버지니아 울프의 소설  “세월 The Years”에 대하여 이야기하는  장면이 나오는데, 금년이 저희들 23 회 69 년 졸업생들 에게는 졸업 50 주년 이었지요.  저는 아랍 출장 중이어서 마지막 날 간신히  동기들 저녁자리에  얼굴 만 잠깐 비칠 수 박에  없었읍니다,

미국에 있는 저나 여러분, 한국에  있는 저희 세대의 서울 의대 출신 들 에게도 많은 세월이 흘렀읍니다.

고등 학생때 였을 듯--언젠가  라디오 인터뷰에  “유진오 교수”가  젊은 시절을  생각하며 소개했던  이 노래를 처음 들었던 기억이 나네요
