Oh, Zhengzhou, poor Zhengzhou, my heart goes out to comfort you all through such disastrous flooding!!! Because of my best friend, colleague, and mentor, Prof. Zhong Gao Wang you Zhengzhou kindly accommodated, comforted, and further protected from such hardship through his rainy days till he was rehabilitated, Zhengzhou remains in a special place in my heart as well especially after I gave ‘Oration’ to celebrate his resurrection(?)- see the attached PPT! -. Indeed, Zhengzhou has been one of a few most memorable places in China I visited through these many years!

Yes, Zhong Gao survived not only through WWII/Nanjing massacre by Japanese soldiers but also from Red Guards through such an infamous cultural revolution. But he suffered most to sustain through unintentional, rather forced exile before he was allowed to be back to Beijing and without you Zhengzhou, it would have not been possible. So, you, Zhengzhou have a special place not only for himself but all his supporters.

Indeed, through the unique opportunity to deliver Zhong Gao Wang Oration in September 2010, I came, I saw, and I once again celebrated his achievement with all his disciples from four corners of China, thanking to Zhengzhou!  With such warm and generous hospitality to stay for a week to enjoy every bit of this old cultural center of Chinese history as 중원/中原(Zhōngyuán),  Zhengzhou had a special meaning to me all along. Now I see such awful flooding to Zhengzhou area to make me feel so distressed to watch, worrying about the impact of such devastating damage throughout. God bless Zhengzhou!!!
