Movie 영화 "기생충"을 보고나서의 소감

Due to the previous webpages (by 조우석) I uploaded,
I am reporting my movie review in a hurry here:
오늘 우리 식구들하고 "기생충" 영화 보고왔는데, 생각보다 Rather stupid movie로 보였지요.
본인은 Devilish smart한 좌파, 빨갱이의 "악질 선전-선동"으로 기대했었는데 보고나니
"뭐 이런것 같고 그렇게 upset 했었나"라는 생각이 듭니다.
여러분들도 보시면 알겠지만 봉 감독이란자는 정말의 좌파, 공산주의 이념과 사상을 적절하게
효과적으로 영화에서 보여주지 못했읍니다. Well, what the hell, that was good for me (or us).
Instead of being an ideological or revolutionary bomb, it seemed to be a thrill-seeking soap opera.
I even thought that the director may not be a leftist or communist.
He might be just an entertaining movie director or just a common Korean drama maker???
Maybe I got too upset after having seen the 조우석's "Anti-Parasite" Youtube article.
However, I still accept the idea (precaution and defense just for in case) of the "anti-Bong guy - 조우석"
I appreciated his concerns. We need more young men like him in South Korea.
I want to have as many peaceful night's sleep out of only so few nights I have in this world.
We shall never relax, complacent, or trust the leftist or communist at any time.
As I was entering the theater with my family, I was kind of uptight
but after the movie, as I was coming out into a beautiful sunny day of Colorado,
my mind was much relaxed and lighter. 하여간 I am glad I saw the movie.
It was kind of bloody at near the end of the movie but it was not too bad.
After all, I enjoyed and chewed those innocent "popcorns with butter" during the movie.
I recommend you to see it and not forget to enjoy popcorns
that may be a better part than the movie itself. Ha, ha, ha.
It is still mysterious to me why and how the movie has gotten the Academy Award.
However, it won't hurt the Korean movies in their spreading adventure into the world.
If I can find some extra time, I might write about the movie in some more details,
especially, why Bong has failed in his ideological propaganda.

The above article helped me to appreciate the movie better.
I'm glad I read it before I saw the movie.
My wife and I were able to enjoy every aspect of the movie, including music,
and the serious effort put in by the director.
I didn't share the concern of the political consequences expressed so emphatically
by 조우석.
I have to agree with the majority of 84000 members of Oscar Academy who voted in favor of Parasite.
Bravo, Korea!

And yet Bong and co-writer Han Jin-won don’t fall into stereotypes of haves and have-nots, either. This is not a movie about how rich people are actually miserable. Whether it’s because of their surroundings or just a coincidence, the Parks seem to live an untroubled and happy existence; their crime is in being so comfortable that they can’t really imagine anyone is struggling. And the Kims are not made saints by their poverty, either.
Combine those characters with an unpredictable plot and Parasite emerges as a masterpiece. It’s also an exemplary specimen of a kind of movie that’s proliferated this year — movies like Knives Out and Ready or Not and Joker and many, many others, each about the mounting gap between the rich and the rest of the world. It’s been a marked trend, and Parasite is one of the finest, probably because Bong knows his way around a visual metaphor (and as the movie goes on, it’s a lot more than just the houses). No wonder the movie won the Palme d’or at Cannes in May.
And while it’s hugely entertaining, Parasite is also thought-provoking. By the time the catharsis arrives, you think you’re at the end of the film, but a coda adds a new wrinkle to the whole thing. If a parasite eventually takes over its host, then what will happen to a world where everyone, in some way, is a parasite for someone else?"

I saw "Joker" when I was visiting Korea in October last year. I thought the hero's(Phoenix) acting
was superb, but my mind was not settling all throughout the movie. And I got out of
the theater with a bitter taste. Phoenix got the best actor award in the Oscars.
I saw "Parasite" in November last year authentic theater in Livermore, Ca. It glued my
eyes on the screen from the beginning to the end. I did not like the plots, because the rich
had no obvious reason to be punished but the richness itself. However, I strongly felt that
the director was trying to express the helplessness of the poor.
Both movies touched the prevailing issue, the haves and the have nots, fading opportunities of the poor,
and neglects of the rich. Both had the extreme vivid violence that I was not particularly fond of.
The act of Phoenix as a psychopath was outstanding. Phoenix got the best actor award.
Then I saw "1917" in January in Modesto where I live. It was my kind of movie. It was about two
brothers and a friend on the frontline during World War One.
I thought it was the perfect movie for the Oscars. It was the closest contender next to "Parasite".
Then the Oscars came. Parasite won the best picture over 1917. I thought it was almost unfair, but
I was so excited, simply because the Korean movie won the most prestigious prize in the world.
I did not care about the fairness of the Oscars. I did not care about the ideology of the plot. It was just aboutthe fact that my motherland Korea is at the top of the world. I wholeheartedly welcome the Academy's
decision no matter what. I was suddenly realized that I am still Korean.
