I was going to ask you where you got the quotation
you used as a part of comment to Kee-woo-nim's
article about DC's cherry blossom.
Here you are with the introduction of the poem.
And what a coincidence to read what day
Buddha died after I listened to "Buddha's
Life and Death' in my car to and from the
golf course today!
Is this so-called Telepathy, Sukjoo-nim?

Saigyo의시에다 화사한 벚꽃사진과 아름다운 음악이 잘 어울립니다.
Saigyo의 이 시는 중세 일본사람들에 유행했던 詩형태인 '하이쿠'가
아닌지요?. 규정

황박사님,
늘 친절하신 코멘트 올려주심에 감사드립니다.
Saigyo 는 그의 거의 전부 詩들이 Tanka form (a traditional poetic form)으로 쓰여졌다고 이책
서문에( Poems of a Mountain Home by Saigyo) 쓰여있지요
또한 Tanka form이 Hoiku (하이쿠) form 보다 훨씬 예전에(오래된) 시 형태라는걸 인터넷을 통해 알았습니다.
초미님, 승자님,
Thanks for your kind comments.
그간 댁내 두루 안녕하시지요?
올려주신 코멘트를 읽을 때마다
뵙는 듯 반갑습니다. 좋은 봄날들 되시기를....

-- From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Tanka consists of five units (often treated as separate lines when Romanized or translated) usually with the following pattern of onji:
5-7-5-7-7.
The 5-7-5 is called the kami-no-ku ("upper phrase"), and the 7-7 is called the shimo-no-ku ("lower phrase").
****Tanka is a much older form of Japanese poetry than haiku.
Tanka is not really a longer haiku, and should not be thought of as such. While tanka does use
many of the same elements such as juxtaposition, concrete imagery,
and is usually centered around nature, tanka is less constrictive.
Haiku is a form of Japanese poetry, consisting of 17 moras (or on), in three phrases of 5, 7,
and 5 moras respectively.[1]
Although haiku are often stated to have 17 syllables,[2] this is inaccurate as syllables and moras are not the same. Haiku typically contain a kigo (seasonal reference), and a kireji (cutting word).
In Japanese, haiku are traditionally printed in a single vertical line and tend to take aspects of the natural world as their subject matter, while haiku in English often appear in three lines to parallel the three phrases of Japanese haiku and may deal with any subject matter.[4]Previously called hokku, haiku was given its current name by the Japanese writer Masaoka Shiki at the end of the 19th century.

"Saigyo(1118-1190) is one of the most well known and influential
of the traditional Japanese poets.
He not only helped give new vitality and direction to the old
conventions of court poetry but created works that, because of
their depth of feeling and somber beauty, continue to attract
readers down to the present day...."
--from the book, "Poems of a Mountain Home by Saigyo"
translated by Burton Watson, 1991
*Kisaragi is the Japanese name for the second month of the lunar year.
Shakyamuni Buddha is said to have died on the fifteenth day of the second month.
Saigyo fulfilled the wish expressed in his poem in a striking manner
by dying on the sixteenth day of the second month of 1190, a feat
that greatly impressed the people of his time, who were familiar with this poem.
