SNU Med ART CLUB Show,
Dr. Kuhn Hong Chicago, USA
Radiologist, Medical Class 1970
Introduction by K. Minn (class 65) Psychiatrist , Napa, California
I have known him since we were in medical school.
He was in pre-med class when I was in med school.
He went to Korean Navy for three years, then came to USA.
Majored in X-ray. I met him only once in Chicago after I left Seoul.
He became a different man, now deeply involved in medical missions
in poor countries, including North Korea.
This year he is heading to N. Korea again, Nazin, near Russian border
he told me this evening
One thing he does more, he spends time in drawing foreign landscapes,
line drawings. He does so quickly. He drew so many.
Pehaps faster than you take picures?
He toured so many countries.
I have about 5 volumes of his sketch books reproduced.
I am exploring only the exhibition possibilities with my mini-camera
on this web page. The white color came out blue with evening sun light.
A few examples you will see below. I hope one day he will have time
to leave master pieces reminiscent of Gauguin or Matisse.

I'll borrow this space to say hello to you, Dr.Hong.
I am sorry I didn't respond to you when you sent
me many missionary books in the past.
I hope you make trip to N.Korea safe and report
to us with "line drawings", if you can.
I didn't have a chance to meet you after we landed
here but I still can "draw picture of you" out of my
memory(I don't have any talent to draw, though).
Thanks to Min sun-bae-nim for his report about
you, Dr.Hong, I can picture of you how you're doing
these days.
See you Dr.Hong here on our Web before or after
your trip to N.Korea.

It appears his sketches are at the level of Picasso.
I have one sketch by Picasso on the wall in my office for some 30 years,
and like Dr. Hong's just as much.
His commitment to the missionary work reminds me
how genuine and deep Van Gogh's Christian spirituality was.
Thank you, Dr. Minn, for introducing Dr. Hong and his works.
Certainly, he is one of our alumni all of us should be proud of and respect.

Dr. H. Lee
1. I have a copy of Women in White by Picasso in my family room too.
His sketches melt in my heart like frozen yogurt in my mouth!
Look at the hair with black curby brush strokes as accents!
The painting of this period (called classic period) was inspired
by his Italian trip where he saw may stone Roman sculptures.
His paintings of this period give the flavor of half stone (scupture)
and half human fresh. Not an easy technical task!
2. I like the movement of figures in Dr. Hong's sketches:
The lady's torso movement he caught, top right!
A technical mastery which needs years of practice, like a triple jump on ice!

You mean, Min sun-bae-nim, Dr.Hong is A Single
(Digit) Handicap Painter in Golfer's term.
By the way, another member of "Mi-Sul-Ban"
came to my mind. He is Dr.Kim Myong-Won(68).
(I used to call him as Myong-Won-Hyung)
He might be around in California. Do you see him?

Not related to this answer:
1. Please reduce the quality of JPG file to 60-70% to keep the file size smaller.
You do this when you save the picture in your hard disk.
Yours is too big.
If you've done it well, the file size should be less than 50-60 KB.
2. Please try to conserve the vertical spaces in your writing (vertically compactness).
Too much space between the lines are headaches (PIA) for readers and web Managers.
I have adjusted yours already.

Excellent technical advice!
If I have to insert in my writing, I will rename them per the content.
Then I do not have to open it before I insert them, as the name tells what it is!
I will try right away.

Question: to Web Manager.
I moved these photos one by one from the photo gallery, 16 travels!
Any easier way?
How about copying the all URL of photos into a note pad file and intert/duplicate URLs
from the note pad file in HTML file.
Once I know how this program insert codes after the first insertion of photo and title,
I just duplicate the rest of the URLs' address?
