I would like to recommend you to see at least one total solar eclipse in your lifetime.
The total is rather emotionally overwhelming to experience it personally.
Please don't bother with "partial" solar eclipse. It may not be worthwhile to take a long trip for that.
You have to be lucky to see it even though you are there. You have to have a clear sky.
Other than many solar eclipses all over the world, here are the ones that pass North America.
1. The next one is on July 2, 2019, in the South Pacific, Chile (city of La Serena) and Argentina.
There will be a few tours organized to see the event.
There may be possibly one or two cruises to the South Pacific for the event too.
You have to make a reservation early.
2. 2-08-2024: The totality passes through Southwestern US and Northeastern US.
There will be traffic jams and lack of hotel rooms where the totality passes through.
Possibly, within the US, this may be the last chance for us.
3. 8-12-2045: The totality passes through Western and Southern US. This will be 27 years from now.
Well, you never know !!
There will be a lot of other total solar eclipses in other parts of the world, once about every 18 months.

"In the time of your life, Live--so that in that wondrous time you shall not add to the misery
and sorrow of the world, but shall smile to the infinite delight and mistery of it."
per William Saroyan in the classic play : "the Time of your life"
The background of the story:
Last year, 8-21-2017, there was a total solar eclipse passing through the US.
A totality was passing through Casper, Wyoming which was two hours drive from Denver.
My son, Lawrence, rented a camping site in Casper and invited all of us.
On 8-21-2018, today, he remembered the solar eclipse trip of the last year
and also remembered the total solar eclipse of 1991 in Hawaii.
He wrote it in the Facebook.
In 1991, I took my family to Hawaii to see the historical total solar eclipse.
Then, we were in two generations. In 2017, we were in three generations.
Lawrence was only 15 years old then.
That's what this story of one family's life is about.
