This morning I learned it was the first day of spring from the note of Dr. Bang.
It doesn’t seem to be near the real spring day yet, with freezing nocturnal temp.
I decided to take a few photos around my house today,
for verification of the arrival of Spring Goddess(東君)

This photo was taken exactly 13 days ago, when my dwarf
spruce tree not taller than I was almost completely
buried in a snow bank in our yard. Only two toe-sized
branch tips were seen.

This is today’s picture of the tree showing about 1/2 of the main trunk.

There is a barren scene with dry grass, a patch of snow
in the background of frozen lake and cloudy sky.

A flock of Canadian geese were surprised at my presence
in the backyard, and then decided to fly away from
this stranger and intruder to their peaceful respite.

South view

This is the best view from my deck toward a small town
called Naples.

Mini flower bed

This tiny flower bed is in front of our kitchen, with oriental
poppies, papaver somniferum, growing. At the center
a small Japanese maple tree stands behind a small snow
mound and a giant icicle lying transversely.

Driveway

This driveway is flanked by snow mounds still remaining.

Forgotten spot

This desolate-looking brownish piece is in the northern area of lawn, which hasn’t been treated with fertilizers and other chemicals ever since our 6 year old twin grandchildren were born. These little New Yorkers can play here freely without any concern of contaminations.

Flower bed

I don’t see flowers or greens except snow blankets.
My conclusion is that spring hasn’t come yet, and then
there is no sign of its impending approach to our northern
country. I recited one of my favorite poems:
“春來不似春” [Spring has come but not like springtime].
