After having watched "Himalayas", a Korean movie

Today (January 1, 2016), I went to a local movie theater, Edward Theater in the University Center of Irvine, CA to watch the Korean movie under the title of "Himalayas". Today was the opening day for the movie which is to run till at least January 8, 2016. (After that, another Korean movie, "Tiger" comes.)

When I heard that it was about a climbing in Everest to recover the bodies of Korean climbers in the previous expedition, initially, I thought it could be a some dumb melodrama with lots of heroics.

My expectation was totally overturned when I watched the movie to the end. Due to my personal involvements in the major expeditions in high altitude climbs in the past, and just as a normal person's emotions, my eyes were soaked wet. Thankfully, I wasn't the only one but there were a lot of other people who got wet eyes.

Well, one thing I can say is that Koreans make tear-producing movies so well that you have to bring a handkerchief with you. Ha, ha, ha...

Anyway, even to an emotionally hardened climber like me, the movie was thoroughly enjoyable. It is not a day-time soap drama. Except a few minor technical details (in climbing that will not be visible to you), I say that it is a really well-made movie that is worthwhile to watch. The contents may be narrow pertaining to the life of mountain people, but it will be universally attractive to non-climbers and even to non-Korean movie goers.

Also, the courage and perseverance of Korean spirits show very well together (for that, I am very proud) with the high quality of excellent movie making.

I really like to recommend the movie to you guys, to see how the mountain climbers do and how they justify their craziness toward mountains. I still don't know why I climbed but I have never regretted my trails left on the mountains.
While watching the movie, like it or not, you will be invited to the actual climb. It is almost you are  participating the climb yourself in real time. The movie will put you into their snow tents and will tie you up in a string of climbing ropes, send you out to the icy cliffs, and into the deep glacial crevasses.

Let's watch, enjoy, and help Korean movie makers, so that Korean movie industry can prosper in U.S.
I see the future. Someday, Korean movies will take over American movie theaters.
If Korean dramas can command the world, why not Korean movies?
Please be patriotic to your motherland, go and watch the movie.

Just over the rocks at left edge of the picture, you see twigs of trees. Obviously, the picture
was taken somewhere in Korea. There are no trees at the climbing altitude in Himalayas.

The two climbers had to spent the night out in cold, "bivouac" (sleeping without shelter).
The grainy snow doesn't appear to be true snow, a part of movie making process.

It is surprisingly warm inside no matter how cold it may be outside.

After the climbing, as they are returning to home. This is how they are supposed to appear.
But only the person at left has the authentic climber's face. The rest have poor facial makeups.
By then, inside of the airplane is too hot. No blankets , caps, or thermal underwear please.
Anyway, the most part of the movie has realistic appearance.
