but I've been wondering Why I had just a few Japanese

patients in my practice for the past 40 years.

One was a Professor of something, the other was a Librarian,

and the third was a Housewife.

Two of them moved back to Japan and the third to Manhattan.

I don't see any Japanese patient for some time.

I'm Color-blinded as a physician as we all do

- please, don't misunderstand. just curious I have been.

I think I found the reason Why.

There are not many Japanese living in the USA,

contrary to Chinese establishing China Town here and there all over NY City.

Please, compare the 2015 US Census

- Korean-Americans: 0.6% of the US polpulation,

Japanese-Americans: 0.3%.

I read one article that read Japanese no longer yearns to live in foreign countries these days.

They're living in their own affluent society and have everything they want and saying

And I love driving around with my Toyota Camry for the past 6 years.

저는 카나다 생방송(CBC)으로 관전해서 몰랐는데 NBC에서 그런일이 있었다니
실망 스럽군요.

SBS에서 들은 거를보니 방송당사자의 목소리가 아시아 지역 특파원 같은데 비교적
아시아의 역사등에 정통할텐데 매우불쾌하네요. 좌지간 이미 엎지러진 물 같은 일이니
NBC측에서도 공식 사과를 한판에 일을 더 키우기 전에 그만 묻어두고 갔으면 하는
생각입니다.

NBC의 방송정책에 대해서는 지난번 말한것 처럼 이사람도 불평이 있습니다. 세상만사가

꼭 우리 뜻대로 되어가는것은 아니니까요.      규정

      NBC 평창 올림픽 중계 도중 평창을 북한에 있는 도시라고 표기 하여 한국민의

      분노를 사고 있다. 수 연발 입니다. 오랬동안 올림중계를 지휘 했던 65세인 Bob Costas

      가  Mike Tirico 에게 바톤을 넘겨 주어 서 좋아 했는 데 너무나 실망 스럽 습니다. 한 반도

      역사, 현재의 상황, 지리에 대한 사전 지식이 아주 부족 한 사람들이 방송을

      하고 있다고 생각 합니다.

1. "일본을 본보기로 삼었다"(past tense)에는 근거가있읍니다.

우리가 서울의대 다닐때 우리를 가르친 그 "위대한" (ㅎ, ㅎ, ㅎ.) 교수들중에서

몇명이나 일제시대 잡기장으로 우리를 가리친 자들을 기억한다면 (우리는 그때 영어 교과서 쓸때)

이 사실은 수긍이 되고도 남습니다.

2. "일본을 본보기로 삼는다"(present tense)에는 물론 모순이 있지요.

본인 (65년 졸업, 그리고 그 이후) 시대에는 일본은 No longer our hero 였지요.

우리 의대 선배들 중에서는 (특히 63-61 졸업년도 이전) 오늘날에도

아직도 일본숭배 (Europe숭배를 포함)경향이 다분히 있읍니다.

아시다 싶히 오늘날 우리는 일본숭배할 건덕지가 별로없읍니다.

For an example: Nowadays, "Samsung" has nothing to learn from "Sony",

However, there was a time (past tense) when there was something to learn from them !!

When the first Korean car came out (past), they used Mitsubishi engines,

and now no more.

So, let's forgive the NBC guy. He said, at least, some truth that we can not deny.

He just hit us a sore spot deep in our hearts and pride.

Let's blame the idiotic 구한말 선조님들 of ours, instead of NBC guys !!

오늘 날 우리는 예전에 비해서 훨씬 더 좋은 세상에 살고 있습니다.

특히 미국인 대다수가 동양, 극동지역에 관해서 많은 지식을 갖고 있어서

NBC 중계자의 망언을 비판하였군요.

예전 같으면 한국은  미개한 나라로 치지도외하였을텐데. 일본의 잔인함을

내 세우면서 그 사람이 한 말이  틀렸다고 하였고, 또 방송에서 사과도 받았고,

특히 중계자는 직장을 잃었다고 보았어요.

그래도 한국은 올바른 이웃과 가까이 지내야 한다고 믿습니다.

한미일 동맹을 잘 하여서 가장 안전한 방법으로 외교를 하는게 우리 고국에 도움이 된다고 생각하지요.

그렇다고 친일파는 절대 아닙니다.

    망언의 주인공은 Joshua Cooper Ramo 이다. 그는 vice chairman and co-executive

    of Kissinger Associates 이다. 중국 전문가 여서 동북아 역사나 정세에 어두운 

    사람은 아닌 것 같다. 스타박스와 페덱스의 이사 이기도 하다.

     Dr. 정이 지적 한대로 Ramo 는 결국 퇴출 되었다. Host 국인 한국  넷치슨 들의 성화에

     NBC가 백기를 들고 말았다. 그가 이사로 있는 스타박스 불매 운동 까지 벌리고 있다고

     한다.

     지나친 반일 김정은 한국정부가 국익을 위한 대일외교를 하는 데 커다란 장애가 될 수

     있다. 한국민은 지나치게 과거의 원한에 억매이지 말고 현실을 직시 하여 실리를 취하는

     지혜를 보일  때가 되었다고 생각 한다.

  Matt Lauer 와 같이 NBC  아침 쇼에서 Co anchor 였던 Katie Couric이

  평창 올림픽 중계팀으로  발탁 되어 입장식 중계를 했다. 네델란드 팀이 입장하자 "다취들은 

  스피드 스케팅에서 메달을 휩쓰 는 데......얼어붙은 카날에서 스케트를 타고 다나 기 때문에..."

   라고 하여 더취들의 조롱을 사고 있다.

After all, it is good to know that NBC has listened to Korean's rage "with respect"

and quickly apologized on TV and newspaper.

I am glad that Koreans are well respected nowadays, 

and not treated like some uncivilized outdated folks in a corner of the Asian continent.

Please remember that we used to be treated like "that" at one time in our painful past history.

And actually, without any doubt, we had been just like "that".

The U.S. gave away Korea to Japan while taking Phillippine for themselves,

thinking that Koreans were so primitive enough not to govern themselves.

Since then, thanks to the hard works and endurance of the modern-day Koreans, it has shown here.

We've come a long way from "being ignored" to "being recognized with respect".

If the damn Moon does not fuck up his presidency, we will stay as an Asian force to be reckoned with.
