While the focus has been on the crucial first fight over whether the Senate will subpoena Bolton (and other witnesses) at all —
sources said Wednesday that Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., has admitted he doesn’t have the votes to
prevent — an equally critical fight will then ensue over the ground rules under which any witnesses would testify.
The Senate majority leader is likely to insist on Clinton-era rules limiting Democrats to a one-day deposition.
Here's why no one should let that happen.

If the Senate votes for the witnesses on both sides to be called in,
the trial can go on for many weeks even a few months. Now
3/4 of Americans want the witnesses to testify. And the Senate
probably will hear their testimony. It won't be just John Bolton.
We don't know how many it will be. The more witnesses are invited,
the longer it will take. Then we may see some cracks among
Republicans and it may negatively affect on Trump's re-election.

The Senate voted not to call witnesses. The president will be acquitted.
But we do not know when it will be because Democrats may prolong the process
as long as they want. If Trump were to be removed through impeachment
process on Ukraine issue, the country might have gone into chaos. It may be
better to be done by the election.

As I had guessed, John Bolton's effort was too little and too late to be effective.
His book, if ever published, might have some remaining punch to Trump's crime though.
The Republicans simply ignored his testimony in order to help Trump.
I wish the Democrats postpone the end of the final vote beyond the date of Trump's New Year Address
(which is to happen on the very next day of the final vote as intentionally prepared by the Republicans,
so that Trump can declare loudly that he was "completely exonerated" of his crime on the national TV.
That will make me sick.)

For now, polls are showing Biden is winning in all 3 states. But the gaps are narrowing since impeachment proceedings.
Ohio is a toss up.
I could not help feeling that John Bolton could be a pussy cat with a face of a lion.
Why didn't he testify when the House called on him? He should have but he declined !!
He tried to hide behind Trump's executive privilege as if he still wanted to kiss Trump's ass.
After all those personal favors to Trump, but when he got no pity and favor from Trump,
he decided to come out to testify. Hardly, an act of a brave man...
I don't know how well he is going to do in the Senate trial if he ever gets called in.
I am not expecting very much help from this homeless pussy cat in getting rid of Trump.
I hope I am wrong.
