1. A point at which the derivative of a given function of a complex variable does not exist,

but every neighborhood of which contains points for which the deritive does exist. 

2. A point or region of infinite mass density at which space and time are infinitely distorted 

by gravitational forces and which is held to be the final state of matter falling into a black hole.

Thee was a time when I wanted to study theoretical physics and  math and, wanted to be a scholar in those fields. 

My boyish dream was not accomplished, but the story of modern physics still attracts me.

Einstein was once quoted as saying, " Imagination is more important 

than knowledge." Although I don't have intelligence to understand what

the physicists are saying as much as I'd like, I get a big kick out of

stretching my imagination whenever I read something like this.

Orienting my being in this amazing universe, in this wonderful country,

and in this challenging world, as one of creatures, as a member of humanity,

as a citizen of USA, and as one of Koreans certainly has been one of my life long

challenges to say the least.

It is always good to know that most of us share this challenge and appreciate 

what all the great scientists have done to the human civilizations over the millennia

sometimes against all odds and in spite of the repressive religious institutions.

For that matter Galileo Galilei comes to my mind.

Like Einstein once said, curiosity itself is enough reason for existence.

"The important thing is not to stop questioning. Curiosity has its own reason for existing."
