Hello everyone, greetings from Masai Mara, Kenya,

Since my wife was not sure whether she would come to Kenya with me in the future, I decided to take a safari trip by myself with other doctor's family over the weekend. The hospital made arrangement so I paid almost half of regular cost for the otherise expensive trip.

This is rainy season, and not the "migration time" which falls in July to Septemebr and therefore consider as "off-peak season" and cheaper rate applies. Instead of thousands animals running as you see on documentary films, our guide drove Landrover to find each animals in separate places they live. But it was awesome experience to watch those from inside of the car few yards away. There was no way to draw sketches of moving animals. I was sorry that I did not have fancy camera with huge zoom lenses as other tourists. But we had picnic lunch and breakfast in the wide open land under the shade of a tall tree. While I watches two kids in our team, 3 and one year olds, I was constantly reminded of all my 7 grandkids instead. I wish I could come back with all my grandchildren again. I came back after two nights stay at a fancy safari tent, but more like a condominium at any regular resorts in Western countries.

Monday was another very busy day scanning ultrasound all day long again. I was called to do emergency scans twice during Sunday night as well. I was seriously debating whether I would like to spend my retired life in this way for longer period of time. The only thing is food although the refrigerator in the kitchen of the guest house has some leftovers from the other days. But I do miss my wife's home cooked meal, and kimchee and Korean soup. If she decided to follow me like this place, then I do not have to worry about what I can eat as well. But then what she can do in the middle of nowhere?

I am planning to leave Tenwek on next Wedensday 27th heading to Kijabe Hospital to stay over two nights instead of 29th. This is another mission hospital, well known place for short-term visitors. I might take this chance to see the other hospital while I am in Kenya as well since the CT scanner is not working here anyway. I will leave Kenya on Saturday 30th, just after midnight, as scheduled and arrive Chicago Saturday afternoon.
