Wonderful, wonderful, Dr. Ohn, you are exactly right on the China issue!
Simply Western democracy doesn't fit them with such a long history/background of 'Aristocracy leaning toward Timocracy' as you assessed! But such fist tight ruling by 'big brother' to every single individual result in suffocating condition to invite another revolution to repeat their history, I concluded. Indeed, the more you look into their psychology- I have been visiting China at least once if not twice a year since I left Korea to come back to the States in 2004!-, the more you learn such fundamental differences between two societies!
God bless America!

Democrats won the presidency, but Republicans gained more seats in the House of Representatives
and failed to take the majority in the Senate. I am stunned by the fact that Biden might have lost it
if there were no coronavirus pandemic, he would have lost the election. The election results
are telling us that Republican constituents are supporting the Trump administration's policies on
immigration, health care, foreign policy including China, climate change, environment, and energy.
The election can be characterized by the college graduates vs the undereducated, urban and
suburban residents vs rural residents, the economically achieved, and the deprived. It was not
so much the white vs non-white. In short, it was the fight between the informed and the
misinformed.
It was also a test to know which form of governance is better, China or the U.S. I think
China's governance may be categorized as Aristocracy leaning toward Timocracy.
Trump administration might have been in the process of deteriorating into tyranny
from democracy. Fortunately, it proved U.S. democracy is well and alive yet.
Thank God! (11/5 posting 참조)
P.S. Plato's 5 forms of governance might be explained as such;
During the 19th century, Dynasty advocated imperialism. Dynasties were employing
aristocracy. Imperialism was timocracy. In China, Aristocracy, timocracy, oligarchy
repeated for thousands of years. Then democracy(communism) came. It deteriorated into
tyranny. Aristocracy emerged. Now, Xi is trying to make it to be timocracy that
is threatening the U.S.A.
