(PBS News Hour: For Brazilians Fleeing Chaos at Home, Brazil Offers Temporary Refuge and Uncertainty)

When a country cannot or will not take care of their own people, they leave the country.

The 21 century is supposed to be more civilized than ever and producing foods, goods

and services more than ever in history of mankind. Yet, there are surprisingly overwhelming

number of refuges all around the world. Koreans did it not long ago. 10% of nation’s population

lived in Manchuria and 연해주 in 1945 before the liberation from Japan. One million 800,000

people from the north left their home in the North headed for the South between 1945-1956.

They were mostly people who worked for Japan, landlords and Christians. One million 200,000

people who lived in Japan came back home in the South. They were our grand parents, mothers,

, fathers, brothers and sisters. They were also called as refugees(피난민). They slept under the sky

without roof, ate grasses and the skin of the tree. I see them through the refugees that I saw on TV.

I know they all love their own country regardless.
